When things are going bad, anyways. My boss my be the biggest asshole known to mankind. Some days it's just ridiculous. When do you finally decide, "Enough is enough" ???

When I think I no longer resist UFC'ing my boss in the face.

If you haven't started looking for new jobs and interviewing by the time you make posts like that, then you're already hanging on too long.

Depends on if you have a family and if your kid's well being depends on your earnings.

If you're single who cares.

When you want to. Either do what you want to do or don't complain.

Either when you have enough money saved up or when you find a better job.

I've only left a job when I've already been offered another or when I started my own company.

Find a job and then leave this one and leave it on good terms. Don't let your emotions get the best of you, you might need his recommendation in the future.

This guy tore me a new asshole for telling him he had a phone call today. I guess he wanted me to get to the bottom of things with the caller, but his reaction was ridiculous.

When security tells me to leave the premises or they'll call the cops.

You should always start looking for new jobs.

Dont be an idiot who quits a job without getting an offer

Like most things in life: when you have a back up plan and when the negatives outweigh the positives.

1. Is this guy your direct superior?
2. Is there anybody above him?
3. Does your job have an HR Dept?
4. Have you created an account on Monster, Jobbing, Career Builder, etc?

have you tried dicussing this with your boss over lunch/drinks or something?

Reason I ask is -right now I have a lot of people working for me on projects (about 70)and I am under extraordinary pressure that I somewhat keep from my employees/contractors in order to keep them productive and let them sleep at night. Many times in the last few months I have been rude, short or an asshole to someone unpurposefully -it was just stress and nerves and needed to apologize to them at some point.

Perhaps your boss has an extraordinary amount of stress that he is dealing with and if you took him aside and spoke with he/she about how you believe you could be more productive if the communication and temperment were different.

I would appreciate someone calling me out in such a manner.

I saw this on Brazzers once.

Great point. I've been "that guy" before and I was actually glad to get called out once because I deserved it resulted in a great discussion.

When you have alternative means of support, and it's affecting your happiness and/or health.

Four things things must happen first

1 you must have another job already secured, or have a big ass network, in which you dont really have to worry about not getting another job.

2 get to know your boss's boss's bosses, and everyone in between. Strike up conversations with them, and get noticed by them. Make sure they know and think highly of you.

3 Make sure everyone knows in subtle way that your boss is difficult to work with

4 Leave when you boss is being required by the people above him to do something rather important, and will need his full staff at their best. That will make him look real bad, and is the only way to teach people like your boss, they have to adhere to certains norms.
