He had his MMA debut at 32 and was seemingly pretty busy with wrestling before that.

Did he start striking at 30/31?

Looks pretty decent in some of the purely striking bouts he has had.

He's been striking since his days in Strikeforce. His wrestling and grappling were already top notch.

Didnt he say on JRE that he had some boxing training since kid

He never did. He’s just doing wathever was being called illegal in wrestling

Dude is Cuban and lived with a bunch of wrestlers, he probably was already used to be punched in the face and punching people, that helps a lot when learning striking.

Yoel played baseball as a youth, and was striking out at the age of 4.

His brother is a pro boxer. I bet hes been boxing his whole life.

The point is he was already in his 30’s in strikeforce.

It’s tough to teach an old dog new tricks.

He never learned it.

Not formally, but if his brother is a boxer it stands to reason that he was also exposed to it from a young age.

IIRC he boxed as a kid, has always had an interest in it since, but didn't really go at it until after his wrestling career was over

He's never looked as good striking as he did against Whittaker in the second fight Imo.

B level athleticism works wonders in MMA
That's B+ with the optional extras running, which makes you think.....hmmmmm that broken orbital is taking a bit long to fix itself....... Wondering maybe something is slowing it down.......
