When "Anybody want something from..."

wtf

Why would your natural assumption be that they're paying for your shit.

i think it depends on the price of things as well, if you're running to the store to pick up a bottle of soda or something and you say grab me one as well. In that case i would say its free. i'll make runs to the store here at work everynow and then, i ask people if they want something and if they ask for a beverage i don't expect them to pay me the 1.50 or whatever it cost

TS, it depends on if your friend is underpaid or not

You pay. They're doing you a favor by getting it for you while you sit on your ass. It's not a gift you dummy.

If it's something small and cheap not really. But if it's like booze or something a bit budgety, yeah. Also the guy should state before he leaves "yo, dude throw some cash my way." .

You offer them cash before they leave, because that's what any courteous person raised right with half a brain would do.

Also you sound poor.

You sound incredibly undeserving of even being asked that question. But I'm sure the friend has since learned you're an ungrateful asshole and won't make the mistake of considering you again.

You should be ashamed of how you repaid this person's thoughtfulness.

Dude, that's like asking for a water cup and then filling it up with lemonade.

Is that wrong?.....

TBF, I had the same confusing misunderstanding when I was in my early teens. But once you learn it's an implied service to transport food, not to buy and transport food, this shouldn't be an issue after that anymore. It's a common practice that you'll have to learn how it works, then you should always be aware that, if there is any confusion, to always just ask. Otherwise, if not expressly told, do not assume your food is getting paid for. It can still happen, but that really is the exception.

it also kinda depends on who you are with, obviously. But still, don't assume you're getting free shit unless they expressly told so. Have the dignity to admit the mistake (to the second party or just to yourself) and not demand to freeload off of someone. The second party is doing you a favor to begin with, return the favor by not giving him shit for assuming that you were familar with a common practice. A small mistake on his part. You didn't communicate the terms well enough. A relatively small mistake on your part, but still a bigger one because clear communication should be standard for any self respecting reasonable person. And going into detail for common practiced implications should not be standard, that is why it is a common implication. And bottom line, you're eating the food, so you're responsible for paying for it.

Damn, I'm hungry for some takeout food, now. Zack bring on the food porn!

dam a bunch of moochers lately. 1st the lemonade & now this

dudes being convenient asking (courtesy) if u needed anything & to pick it up 4 u. always assume the courtesy is for the transportation & pay him back for the materials

I would never assume it was a gift and if I did and they wanted me to pay I wouldn't argue that fact. I would pay. Simple. What it cost? 5$?? 10$??? Is that worth looking like a loser to you? Not me but I have a job and self respect.

This is exactly what I was thinking after I read the first post. Like seriously is it that big of a deal to you that you would rather look like a cheap fuck? If I ask people if they want anything it's cause I intend to pay. If someone says the same to me I offer to pay them right away or I go with them almost all the time because who the fuck carries cash anymore.

Look at the end of my previous post.

Jesus. That seems a little harsh. Sure, maybe he should've been a little more savvy about these sorts of things, but I could understand how someone--especially a young someone--could get confused in that situation.

They could mean it either way, but that's something you should clear up before they go out and buy the stuff.

I think everyone should have at least a little cash on the at any given time. $20 minimum.

I'll admit I do keep a $20 tucked in my glove compartment for emergencies. I'm not going to use that to buy fast food though. It's strictly for emergency type situations and that's it. I just don't see the point of having cash anymore. That $20 in my car has been their for over 2 years now I've never had to use it.

I sold my old car my brother and I forgot to take the $20 out. So we're talking one day and I ask him how the cars doing and he's like oh it's running great no issues. Then he goes "I even found a $20 in the glove compartment and got some weed with it". I was a little pissed cause I hate losing money like that but it wasn't his fault.
