just curious about how a regular week looks for some of you guys who are on a strength program + training bjj/kickboxing etc etc.

I train bjj on fridays, its my last serious training day of the week, and i'm finding that i'm really wiped after an hour of class.

i'm on the 5x5 program
my week looks like this now:

mon: back (alternating weekly between deads and clean/press)
tue: squat
wed:off
thur:chest
fri:bjj
sat: off (this day im friggin done)
sun: may or may not do cardio + chins + dips if im feeling up to it.

i really want to add muay thai on the sunday but right now, i'm just not feeling up to it.
i also have only been training bjj for 2 months.

I am a senior at OSU. I graduate in two quarters though and I am sure keeping a schedule like this will be impossible once I enter my master's program and am working full time.

at the moment Im doing

tuesday - squats/good mornings/abs
wednesday - bench/dips/rows
friday - deadlift/rows/shrugs
sunday - bench/clean and press/muscle snatch

but I tweak things slightly every few weeks

AM M-F: General GPP (pushups, burpees, sprint, LSD, etc)
PM M-T: Boxing

thos eof you doing doing splits are beasts man. It's -15 with windchill here in t.o, i could NEVER get up before work, workout and then workout again after work. I'd be dead lol.

i have to be on my feet all day for work, i don't notice it, but i bet it affects me somehow....

I felt the same way before I started it. And it still feels like I can't do my second session everytime, but once you get in there and get warmed up you feel much better.

one day off is all you need? do you find that injuries (muscle strains etc) pile up? do you ever take an entire week or two off and do nothing?

One day really is all I need right now. When I go home for breaks (every 2 months or so) I generally only lift, with occasional martial arts thrown in there. I'v started to learn my limits though, if something hurts, I rest until it doesn't. Too many guys in the martial arts game (especially guys who train "MMA") think they have to be these herculean tough guys that have to just rub dirt on everything and train through it, which is why they end up hurt.

Soreness wise, I think my body has just accustomed to DOMS.

lol I am guilty of this. I have been off the past 2 weeks for tearing an intercostal muscle because I trained even tho it completely hurt.

yeah, i'm only satisfied when my legs are so sore i cant put my pants on properly lol.

what do you mean "go home for breaks?"

oh yeah, me too. I have tendonitis in my groin right now (forget the exact tendon name) but i thought it was a hernia for a month or so. I kept training because i'm sick in the head, the thought of my intestines poking through my muscle wasn't enough to deter me. But after a trip to the specialist, turned out it was tendonitis, which i refuse to believe is an actual injury and keep wo until i cant walk.

Chase: Have you seen a doctor about that? Those things can take quite awhile to heal up man!

Anti: Im at school in Kansas and I live in Atlanta so I visit every few months.

Yeah I have. For about 4-5 days I couldn't even breathe and it was the worst pain I have ever felt since the time I tore cartilage in my ribs. Doc put me on a heavy anti-inflammitory and told me to stay off for a couple more weeks... I will probably start sooner, but what can ya do.
