I have seen it on several occasions where a fight is so hyped, but then they make the fight happen after a year or more. I used to want to see GSP vs SILVA and DIAZ vs GSP so bad, now I honestly dont really care about them as much as I once did. They dont strike while the IRON is hot and sometimes its not their fault, but a lot of the times it is

Just because Dana, Silva, GSP, Jones, JDS, or anyone else say it's going to happen, that's it's going to happen.

It's all just hype until it's signed.

Its like the Manny vs Mayweather fight, which could have sold 2 million PPV! But greed came into play and they were trying to make money off of fighting lesser competition since someone was going to lose in that fight and have their stock drop. Now if it happens nobody will really care like before.

Also I never understood where the notion Nick Diaz is some huge PPV darling came from, he never pulled anything out of the ordinary. He hjust has very vocal fans, and Dana has sadly admitted to be one of them.

if the yakuza ran the ufc, there would be no delay in waiting for superfights.

or if bj penn was still on top, there would be no delay in superfights.

People will still care, and if you can't get hyped for GSP/Diaz still then you need somebody to check your brain.

If Dana wants to talk about it, cancel that stupid Sonnen/Jones fight (maybe have someone break Sonnen's legs... and lips), and have Jones/Silva happen.

But no, he doesn't want it to happen that badly. He wants to milk it to hype every fight like it's the last fight before that fight.

Until such a fight is signed in contract and the UFC announces a date for it, there's no reason to continue discussing it. Dana has hyped it to high hell to where we all know where we stand on these super fights.

The Sonnen/Jones fight has nothing to do with Jones/Silva never happening. Dana White most definitely wants super fights to happen. It's why he talks about it all the time and keeps the buzz going. It is the fighters that have little interest in these fights. If Jones and Silva had any interest in fighting each other, it would already be scheduled.

As it is, superfights will only happen when one of the fighters is well past his prime. The older fighter wants one last big payday. The younger fighter wants to pad his resume with a legend's name. We've seen this dynamic in boxing, now it has come to MMA.

    GSP Silva never made sense

    GSP Diaz will be better

Now Bones vs Silva, we must see this one go down next year

Of course they aren't interested in it. However, Dana isn't interested in it enough. If he was, he'd throw enough money at them to convince them to take the fight. That or he'd refuse to get Anderson his 10 fight deal unless he fights Bones and/or GSP.
It's too bad all the bad stuff can't stay in boxing and die in boxing. As much flack as he gets, BJ Penn deserves a ton of credit for challenging GSP for his belt.

Really, if Silva wants to convince us he is the GOAT, he needs to beat the best. GSP or Jones, otherwise, there's always legitimate arguments that he isn't the best of all-time.
No it won't. Diaz will get Ground and Pounded like his brother, but worse, because he is worse than his younger brother, and GSP is ten times the wrestler Bendo is.

You are absolutely right: they should have held this fight while GSP was recuperating from knee surgery.

At least Diaz would have had a chance...

    2 most realistic super fights

    1.Benson vs Aldo

    2.Jones vs JDS.

    that's all

And i want Jones at HW more than Silva vs Jones...

    It's not just the UFC...

All of these fights/matches got delayed or called off when people most wanted to see them. Even when both guys were in the same organization.

Even Tyson/Holyfield didn't happen until years after it was intended. Something about the hype seems to create an overwhelming amount of pressure that gets in the way of it happening.

these fights are highly anticipated because both fighters are big names. That means both fighters have a lot to lose if they lose the fight and both are likely to hold out until they think they have an advantage or the potential upside outweighs the downside. For example, 1I'm sure it would be easy to convince M-1 to work with the UFC these days.

Add that to injuries and you can see how hard it is to put together a big fight.
