Threads on racism often end up bring out a lot of racism, which then brings out the mods and gets threads closed. I personally try to let them go for a bit because I hate the idea of limiting intelligent discourse, but when that discourse becomes unintelligent and begins to make the forum, the sport, and all of us who are a part of either of these things look bad, well, it's gotta get shut down. If people could discuss these topics without the discussion devolving into bigoted idiocy, then the threads would stay open longer. As is, I personally promise not to close any threads on race/ism preemptively, and will at the very least wait until the inevitable shitshow ensues before taking action. But, I also understand why other mods may feel differently given the history of these threads on this forum, and I think you need to try to understand this historical trend as well.
