Why isn't Nunes fighting Cyborg? That's the best fight to make in WMMA right now. Holm needs to pick up a couple wins, this fight is bullshit.

Everybody seems to be forgetting that Nunes has publicly stated that she wants no parts of Cyborg. When they created the 145 pound division, she said she would fight GDR for the title. But she also said she had no interest in fighting Cyborg. She was completely transparent about not wanting to fight Cyborg. She also talked about moving down to 125.

From MMAFighting article:

“I want to see Cyborg with this belt,” Nunes said. “I’m not interested in fighting her. I’m not interested in fighting her. I’m interested in fighting the girl who has the belt now [GDR]. After my next fight, we’ll see what happened.

“I’d have to do a lot of things to fight Cyborg. Cyborg is way heavier, way bigger than me. I’d have to change all my training style to fight Cyborg. This is another thing I’d have to go over with my coaches.”

“After my fight [against Schevchenko], things can happen,” Nunes said. “I might go down as well to 125 and try it first in the gym to see how it goes. We’ll see.

If only we had a female champ with Ronda's ground skills, Cyborg's power and aggressiveness, and JJ / Shevchenko's technical standup skills... I might be interested in the division again. Rose's charm is enough to keep me into her division, but after Ronda shit the bed WBW just makes me so flaccid.

Fuck. "UFC Champion" has really lost it's prestige by tenfold over the years.

Who in their right mind would have turned down the Ronda fight? And the GDR and Cyborg fights were undeserved title shots. I'm not a Holly hater by any stretch of the imagination, but I'm not sure why you think she deserves credit for taking these fights. They're pretty much no-brainers. GDR turned down the Cyborg fight, but that was an aberration. People don't generally turn down title shots.
