What's the worse defeat - lose belt to next contender, or hold out for Ronda and lose belt to her?

Im being sceptical. Maybe naturally both Holly and Miesha wanted to continue fighting because holding out for Ronda would be an indefinite period of waiting. But part of me wonders if they don't hold out for Ronda because they're scared she'll come back guns blazing and kick their asses. Maybe Holly didn't want a one-hit-wonder label, and Miesha, she's already suffered two losses at the hands of Ronda, so that goes without saying. As I say I'm being very sceptical, but anyhow, is it worse to lose your belt to a lower ranking fighter who doesn't have the notoriety of Ronda, or, would holding out for Ronda and having her kick your ass be worse?

Lower ranked is worse and Ronda is a bigger pay day.

Holm wanted to stay busy instead of waiting for over a year whereas Tate handpicked Nunes as a "stay busy" fight because she thought she could weather the storm which proved to be untrue. Losing to a contender would probably be worse than losing to Rousey for Tate because everybody expects her to lose to Rousey so there isn't much pressure.

It's worse to tap to a RNC that is above your chin. That's just plain giving up when you aren't even being choked. Conor gets so much crap for tapping but at least he was getting choked for real, not just tapping because Tate had no heart.

It's worst to be given a title shot when the champ could have waited for Ronda rematch and a bigger pay day, then be on your way to losing that title match if not for a desperate TD and RNC, then not give that champ a rematch in return, then hand pick an opponent so that you can defend your the belt, and then lose to that person you underestimated by that same way you won the belt, by RNC.

Have any of you defended a choke?
You can't measure someone's fighting spirit by watching from a distance.
The difference between a choke that will finish you and one that's not gonna do it can be, and often is, a matter of a quick second and a minor adjustment.

You can feel like you can escape it, or your opponent doesn't really have it, then the next thing you know you're being woken up.
