There hasn't been a significant technological, water shed, moment since the iPhone came out in 2007/8. Everything since has just been building on inventions that already exist such as the Internet, cars, security, surveillance.

What's the next iPhone ? What's the next thing that doesn't exist that could ? The electric car isn't new - it's something in the works since the late 1800s. The Internet came about mainstream in 1995/6 and since then it's expanded and created tangent technology, but it's all rooted in the same basic concept.

Some of ya'll will say 'time travel,' but let's be honest - that ain't happening anytime soon; or at least not at the same pace technology advanced between the 1600s to 2010.

Have we technologically peaked in terms of innovation ? I think we've sort of established all there is, but we're just gonna keep developing and building upon what already exists.

Tesla and other mental giants spoke of things such as the internet and smartphones in their time, but they couldn't envision much beyond that. Neither can we, today - because nothing that futurologists are seeing are new.

Remember the Google glasses? It will be something like that.

Google unfortunately was too far ahead of their time and the world was not ready for it yet. There was all kinds of backlash from people who didn't want to be recorded.

But to me that just means the glasses weren't valuable enough to outweigh the privacy concerns. But one thing I know about people is that they'll quickly give up privacy if there's something really good in it for them.

So with improved augmented reality features and apps I think Google glasses will make a huge comeback. But it might not be Google that does it. Might be Apple, Amazon, or even Samsung that finally releases a good version that's a big hit.

The other big one will be self driving cars. Which everyone knows is coming, it's just a matter of how long before people accept it.

Here's how I would pull it off if I were in power.

Start reducing the speed limits and increase the police stops for any little traffic violation. Write tickets for everything. No warnings.

Increase the fees for getting a driver's license.
Increase the fees for registering a vehicle.
Increase the fees for smog inspections.

Then give huge discounts on all that shit for anyone with a self-driving car.

Make carpool lanes into self-driving car lanes. And eventually make all the lanes self-driving except for the right lane.

Start using any little excuse to take away drivers licenses. But people in self driving cars won't need one.

Then car insurance will be insanely cheap on self driving cars because they cause far fewer accidents.

Basically, make it more of a pain in the ass to drive your own car, and super easy to let a computer do it.

Whatever you do, don't let the VR/metaverse crew get started.
It's overrated and I think unlikely to be the next big thing aside for with gaming.

AI and IOT (internet of things) will be making more waves though.

Why do you think it is overrated? What is the major barrier to entry for most people?

IMO it is comfort. VR goggles are big and cumbersome. I remember wearing an HTC Vive for more than 15 minutes caused my eyebrows to sweat profusely inside the foam padding and cause the screens to fog up. It sucked.

If they can advance VR technology to a seamless transition and comfort level then I can see mass adoption of the technology. Something like a pair of glasses/goggles that are near weightless.

But for real, imagine the power of VR advancing to wear one could use something like a contact lens to enter VR or AR

It's 5G.
Most people don't appreciate what uncontended high-bandwidth, always-on mobile Internet will enable.

probably 3d phone that goes along with some metaverse type glasses.

one nation will develop a tech that will stop all others from going to space.
and they will own the galaxy and beyond.
they will leave the planet and establish themselves out there, while leaving the rest in a permanent lock here on earth.

Cannot wait for Apple to invent the folding screen technologies...

Not shocked to see a lefty being very comfortable with a big brother government strong arming the people into doing something.
