What fight is it that made you feel more excited about seeing it and hoping the outcome would be who you wanted to win more than any other fight before or since? And how excited did you get? Did your heart beat faster? Did you start sweating? Maybe trembling? Or did it just make you yell loudly at the TV set every time something significant happened in the fight?
I'm doing my best to try to remember a single fight but all I keep coming up with are several fights that are all pretty close.
I will try to rank these from most exciting to less exciting:
1. Mark Coleman vs. Dan Severn - I liked both guys but I wanted Coleman to win and he did. I remember I yelled pretty loudly when he won!
2.Tank Abbott vs.Don Frye - finals of ultimate Ultimate 2. I wanted Tank to win and he dominated from the start with some crisp boxing rather than his typical less technical brawling style. He was bloodying Frye pretty well and Frye had no answer for it. Then just as Tank seemed poised to pummel Frye some more for the win, in an unbelievable fluke, Tank slipped in
3. Randy Couture vs. Tim Sylvia - nobody thought old man Couture could come out of retirement and go back up to Heavyweight and especially not to face this 6 foot 9 inch monster but Captain America proved 'em wrong!
4. Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin - Clash Of The Titans. These were the two biggest, strongest, hardest punching guys in all of MMA! Lesnar had shattered Heath Herring's face with one punch and sent him into retirement early. Carwin had won all his fight with a round one KO! Brock wore 3XL size gloves and Carwin wore 4XL size gloves! Somebody was gonna get hurt badly. I was 100% behind the defending champion Brock Lesnar as I love to cheer for a wrestler and if he' an amateur great who also has experience in the professional ranks of the sport, so much the better! I hated to see Carwin deliver so many brutally hard punches. But I liked that Brock was so tough that he could just chew those punches up and spit them back out! It was scary to think that the ref might stop the fight even though Brock would not tap. Fortunately, by the end of the 1st round, Brock had made it back to his feet and was working on a single leg takedown. Then Brock hooked a choke hold on Carwin for the most dramatic, come from behind finish in MMA history!
