What's the deal with Mark Henry?

A few years ago it seemed like he was one of the most respected coaches in MMA with the results to back it up. He coached Frankie and Eddie to titles. And he did a good job with Marlon and Edson for a while.

Now all of his guys seem to get their asses kicked. And some guys even seem to regress when they go to Mark Henry.

What's this guys deal? Good coach, bad coach, average? Did he just get lucky early on by having talented guys who would have become champs anyway? Maybe he's spread to thin?

He is still very well respected in the MMA circles. Gyms/coaches have ups and downs, just the way it goes.

He always struck me as average. Kinda like Duke Roufus. Cody went to him and didn't fix his flaws. Also some of his guys got old overnight to be fair to him, like Frankie. Marlon I don't know what it is. Eddie has always been a brawler.

But results are not good for him that's true.

Nothing wrong. He's great. Frankie and Eddie are shot. No coach can save their careers at this point. Marlon... I don't know whats going on with him but probably the same. Edson is still good.

Cody is done as a top fighter.

As a fighter, not sure if I would want to learn a new language with him just to understand his combos.

Edgar, Moraes, and Barboza are all of the highest skill level. They’re just getting old and have some major flaws now.
Maybe game plans are a flaw and his fighters do seem to struggle with forcing the fight to their area (Edgar only uses takedowns for feints and Moraes has no way to slow the pace) but their fundamentals and ability to flow is beautiful and it’s probably because of his coaching. All coaches have their pros and cons.

Like Duke Rufous has an ability to make flashy stuff work as well as a jab BUT his fighters end up being way too safe everywhere.

look at Duke Roufus' guys lol, Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren, CM Punk, Maycee Barber, Pat Barry. These guys get demolished in the standup on a regular basis

They're old. Tyron was a champ, Anthony Pettis was a champ, Sergio Pettis is on a 5 fight win streak, Rose was there forever.
