McGregor was a boxer turned MMA fighter.

It's all good and great until you get punched real hard without your gym protective gear.

"New Breed" means any fighters who trained all facets of MMA from the start whereas guys like Jones and McGregor only trained one discipline from an early age then picked up other skills later on. What do you not understand?
