Dana talks shit - it is known.

But it's a win win for him. If he signs Fedor and he wins, he can try to market him for an ROI - if he loses he can gloat and claim he was always overrated.

It wasn't a problem when they signed Kimbo or held their first WMMA fight.

I see no reason why Dana wouldn't or couldn't be at least somewhat honest. By simply saying:
"what did you expect me to fucking say? We wanted Fedor but his management was unreasonable, you don't fucking expect me to go out and praise Fedor as the greatest when he's fighting in a competing organization, do you?"
 
Dana has talked tremendous amounts of shit against Fedor that is how big the man is.
 
It doesn't matter how he feels about Fedor, it's how he feels about $$$
 
He might say: "I only signed fedor because I want to prove what fraud he and pride was. UFC was always on a complete different level; no fixed fights, no pro japanese wrestlers or steroids freaks''.
