What will Khabib have to do for a titleshot now?

After majorly shitting the bed, what will Khabib have to do to get a titleshot?

I don't mind if you cut weight as long as you make your weight, but this was some major unprofessional shit.

Dana hates it when you miss weight. The ufc is under a lot of pressure to perform and have had two bad PPV in a row. Khabib ruined this card plain and simple.

I'd make him wait at least a year and win 3 fights against top 10 at 155 (at least one must be a top 5) where he makes weight before I ever risked a title shot on him.

Being that this guy averages 1 fight a year lately, it could be 3 years before he wins 3 fights.
 
Depends what he plans to do and against who..
If he decides not to fight during the ramadan he has a short time period to recover and prepare.
 
Fight someone like Eddie Alvarez or one of the other winners in the top 10 who are already matched up at the moment and start making weight.
 
The goal is to make the most out of a fighter. Khabib is an investment, either you make the most out of it or you cut your losses and move on. There's no "punishment". You don't hide your product in the back of the shelf and hope no one buys it. That's hurting yourself.

They tried that already, and Khabib still gained a large fanbase organically. The UFC needs to cater to the Russian market, they want to cater to the middle-east, central-asian markets. Unless there's a bigger star, they will push him in a way that makes business sense.

There's markets overseas who want to see a champion, its not just the potential 50-100k in PPV buys they lost on 209.

It would be hilarious to see the butt hurt when Khabib either instantly gets the rematch with Ferguson or get a title shot with with one more top 10 win.

I disagree - I don't think Khabib has gained a large fanbase. I think hardcore mma fans know who he is and that is it.

Had he beaten Ferg I think he could have made a really big leap, but now he looks really bad - loserish.
 
I'd like to see him fight Masvidal or Magny for a number one contender shot.

He's two fights away from a title shot. He would face Woodley/Maia winner.

So you want him to move to 170, or do just not know what division he fights in?
 
If they give Tony a title shot, Khabib will have to beat someone like Alvarez.

It's not a big deal, shit happens. Jones and Aldo did worse than Khabib.
 
Nah, I think the UFC will most probably reschedule the match with T-Ferguson.
They see it as a DC vs Jones situation. It will be rescheduled.

He has a fanbase in Russia, and elsewhere. That's good enough. UFC is trying to expand in Russia. They just cancelled and then renewed their TV deal in Russia at a higher price using 209 as leverage.

You say he doesn't have a big fanbase? So the losses of him pulling out were that much smaller. They will use him in a way that makes them money, not play moral arbiter.
 
Conor didn't want to fight him anyway, but now he missed weight, he'll never get that fight. Conor always talks about showing up and that Khabib always gets injured and doesn't show up... Missing weight is another thing to hold against him.

If he moves to 170, same scenario, two wins (top 10) and then title shot. 170 needs new blood, the tops guys are old. It might be a better fit for Khabib who is obviously a huge 155er, and has trouble making weight.
 
go up to 170 and tear shit up. 5 or 6 wins over 2 years without an injury layoff.


or wait until the UFC wants to do big money in Russia perhaps.

He is my favorite rising fighter right now and couldn't make weight for the biggest fight of his life. He couldn't even get within five pounds.

That's a sign, to me, he can not reliably make the weight. So there is no point in giving a shot at the belt.

Its ridiculous. He's not alone but he is the current worst offender.

And I can not stand McGregor but that motherfucker made that 145 cut every time.

Khabib has no excuse. Is also not his first miss. He missed by three pounds against Trujillo.

He's done at LW. The UFC needs to enforce this and not accept these cuts as part of the job.

He's kidneys we're shutting down six pounds out. And don't see how you give him another shot.

khabibs daddy doesn't want him fighting past 30 , so IMO khabib will never fight for a title ever again. He missed weight twice now. Missing weight for a title fight is the dumbest thing you can do in mma. If Khabib didn't try to shrink himself almost to death to avoid his proper weight class which is WW, fuck him and his padded record and shit conditioning. Trust me khabib stock has taken a nose dive and his career might not recover.

Exactly, khabib father has protected his sons career for years knowing Khabib would have to cut like crazy to be able to compete at top level.Khabib could win a WW but most likely get destroyed vs any top 5 imo. I really do diss like Khabib and even more now. IMO he never really wanted Tony, if he did he would have made weight like he has before. Pussy of the year IMO
