...DC beats Jones?

If you think that Jones won't be granted a rematch, even if he loses a la JDS-Cain II or III you are delusional.

What Gus will do? try to sit in the lines waiting for the results of the rematch to have his shot? Won't be before early 2016... 2 years without fighting would be ridicoulous...

Luckly for him I think that DC will beat Jones (UD in may opinion) and then will undergo surgery to the knee...

Jones and Gus will fight for the interim belt...

Your thoughts??

Gus should suck it up and fight Rumble or Evans, a win over Manuwa won't keep him at the top very long.

true, DC's fighting Jones on Jan.3 which means the next title defense at LHW is gonna take place around June. Gus has plenty of time to fight and recover - hell he could take two fights if he really wanted to. If he "behaves" he might actually get the next title shot over Jones if, say, Jones gets beat up decisively.

it should NOT be a given that Jones will rematch if he loses

whether Jones wins or loses, he should fight Gustafson next (assuming Gus doesn't lose a fight in the interim, or maybe even then)

I think Jones will defeat cormier and retain the belt, but for gus to sit out and wait is stupid how often have we seen people sit out and wait for nearly a year then get injured themselves.

Take a fight earn some money, you can never know how things will play out, cormier could blow his knee in the lead up to January and gus could step in,Jones could injure himself again and he is asked to face cormier.

The ufc should match up Gus and Rumble on the same card as bones and label it as the number 1 contender match or put it on fox around the same time.

they might give gus the next title shot regardless, and then give jones the next after, and that'll give time to build aj up for a shot

Everyone thought Pettis fucked himself out of an instant title shot for taking and losing the Guida fight. If Gus is destined to be champ, then he will earn a championship fight again.

Neither JDS/Cain 2 or 3 were instant rematches. That would mean Gus gets the next shot.

Jones losing won't be granted an immediate title shot.

Cain wasn't granted an immediate title shot against JDS, when he lost to him.

A lost is a lost and immediate rematches should not be given if a champ loses.

Anderson Silva vs Weidman is a different story, and probably the exception where an immediate rematch is warranted.

Jones would never fight for the interim belt if he loses against DC. Especially not against Gustaffson who is (possibly) sitting out not taking another fight either. No chance whatsoever.

What will happen to Gus? He will waste a lot of time waiting and getting nowhere, that's what will happen if things go down that way.

depends on how close it is and whether Gus takes the fight with AJ. Honestly, I'd rather not see Gus fight AJ to ensure there's a healthy pipeline of contenders, but rematches and injuries could drag things out and I'm sure Dana wants to headline a card with Gus - AJ to build interest in a title fight and make some money. If Gus turns it down, I can see him sitting for awhile, especially if DC - Jones is close.

Gus should fight Jones for the title over DC now that Jones is "injured". That is not happening, so Gus gets the next shot no matter the outcome of DC vs Jones.
