I may be mistaken, but gigantism is a result of a tumour that puts pressure on a specific area in the brain. Without surgery or a chemical to relieve that pressure, people with gigantism do in fact die.

Bigfoot isn't some normal guy. He has a legitimate serious disease that usually kills people early in their life. People with his disease usually don't make it past their mid 40 years untreated.
