Hi, this will be my first year in wrestling; so i know very little about dieting or the smart weight class for my body type.

I am currently 5 '9; 137lbs. (I'm pretty skinny not alot of body fat)

with this information could anyone give me advice on what weight i should be aiming for before the season starts?

Thank you.

If not that much body fat then go for 135. You gotta hit the weights though because 135 the kids will be strong. Most kids from 130 and up dont even look their weight, they look a lot bigger. Last year when i didnt make weight at 103 my coach made me wrestle 119 when i weighed 105 and that kid looked easily 130. What do you do as far as cardio and weight lifting?

for cardio.....

about 3.5 mile run (every day)

every other day I'm at kickboxing (aerobic)

also every other day i take Shotokan karate

I have never been a serious weight lifter so if you have any advice I'm all ears.

well i lift about 3 or 4 times a week but go to the strength and power section and ask those guys i got instant help when i asked them about wrestling lifting.

If i were you i would consider going to 130lbs. It's only 7 lbs. My Freshman year i wrestled 130-140 depening on were i was needed. I was about 5'11 though the strength differnce between me and my compitition was crazy. Luckly i normaly had an experience advantage. I would definetly try to do some strength training if i were you also. I was the only kid i grew up with not to win state cause i was at such a strength disadvantage.
