What was the biggest upset in history

Excluding the actual odds numbers. The effect of Nate beating Conor sent shock waves around the world and was reported in almost every country. People were in complete disbelief and wouldn't stop talking about it for months. Nobody ever thought that Conor could be beat and it turned Nate into a superstar

From that kind of perspective, Holm destroying Ronda Rousey was bigger, both in terms of betting odds and of media coverage. Conor is bigger now, but not at the time : it was before he became the double champ and all the Mayweather hype, compared to Ronda at the top of her hype.

In hindsight this maybe wasn't a huge upset, but I'll fully admit that I was flat out shocked when Holm KO'd Rousey. I 100% bought the hype and pretty much thought Rousey was unbeatable at the time

MMA, I'd hate to use WMMA but Holly Holm was a big underdog to Rousey. Rousey was a -1200 favorite.

Only the gambling odds matter. I was trying to look up the numbers for you. But its just articles with peoples opinions.

For mens UFC I think Matt Sera vs. GSP is top 3. But for me the #1 upset in recent memory was Bisping vs. Rockhold. Bisping was +600 +650.
For womens UFC I think Holm vs. Rousey. One bookmaker had the odds for +1200 on Holm. So many people bet on Holm in Vegas (tourists throwing hail Mary's) The odds went down to +600.

I remember Dana White saying one of the Vegas Casinos ran out of money paying Holm Winners.

Yeah ... but only GSP wasn't overrated. So I'd say Serra x GSP is the biggest upset. Rousey and Rockhold both overrated as fuk.

Griffin x Rua was a big upset too at the time. But Rua's subsequent record made it look less so even though he ended up winning the title after that loss.

The battle of Ain Jalut was like a regional level can mollywhooping a prime GSP
Props for using the term "mollywhooping".

The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest tho...
