What was the biggest upset in history

McGregor Diaz haaaaaa no.

Mcgregor/ Diaz was 4. 5/1 odds. That means that people in general expected Diaz to have about a 22% chance. Not exactly a huge upset. Hell I made $800 because I saw it coming. In a sport that's had 8/1 and 10/1s pull it off, that one is nowhere near.

Excluding the actual odds numbers. The effect of Nate beating Conor sent shock waves around the world and was reported in almost every country. People were in complete disbelief and wouldn't stop talking about it for months. Nobody ever thought that Conor could be beat and it turned Nate into a superstar

Being from Vegas myself I was just thinking about that. They almost pulled off the unthinkable
They came pretty fucking close, I'm a die hard Leafs fan but Ovechkin is my favorite player so I'm glad Washington put an end to their incredible run and he got to raise the cup finally.

I just looked it up, they were +50000 which I guess is only 500-1 but apparently it actually would have devastated a lot of sports books had they done it.

I disagree with almost everything here except it turning Nate into a superstar. If everyone thought Conor couldn't be beat, those odds wouldn't have been as close. Everyone likes "free money"

Only casuals thought that Conor couldn't be beat, but i don't think that even they are that dumb. Conor vs Nate was not even a big upset , which was proven even in the second fight.

Only the gambling odds matter. I was trying to look up the numbers for you. But its just articles with peoples opinions.

For mens UFC I think Matt Sera vs. GSP is top 3. But for me the #1 upset in recent memory was Bisping vs. Rockhold. Bisping was +600 +650.
For womens UFC I think Holm vs. Rousey. One bookmaker had the odds for +1200 on Holm. So many people bet on Holm in Vegas (tourists throwing hail Mary's) The odds went down to +600.

I remember Dana White saying one of the Vegas Casinos ran out of money paying Holm Winners.

I've made 3 total mma fights in my life n 2 happened to be Holm vs Rousey and TJ vs Barao 1 each at +800 for the underdog. $100 each time. TJ i bet bc I thought no man should ever be that big of a fave and Holly cuz i disliked Rousey.

If enough people bet big on those fights wouldnt shock me if it hurt some casinos big.

lmao

It seems crazy in retrospect but Dillashaw beating Barao the first time was a huge shock to almost everyone. Especially the way it went down.

Yea, Rockhold stank up the division and never came back strong ever since.
