Going to a wedding. There was no dress specified. I don't own a suit. Not only do I sound poor, I am poor. But I still want to show up fresh like out of a GQ magazine. I was going to get a cheap suit and just get it tailored, as I hardly dress formal anyway. What did you guys wear to weddings?

You could just wear a sports coat/blazer instead of getting a suit.

I consider a day of happiness and celebrating love one of the best reasons to dress up.

Nice clothes were made for such days

Wear a suit or you'll look like a complete idiot.

If your not a male bridesmaid (or whatever they are called) then your nicest button up, long sleeve shirt, some slacks and dress shoes. Whatever you dress up as most likely there will be some other cats dressed worse then you. You'll get lost in the mix anyway.

Also get a hair cut whatever you wear. That will help you and it's cheap.

All joking aside, Walmart sells affordable clothes that will pass to be good enough for a wedding.

Are the GIBLERT shirts real? Will I have to go to Africa to steal one off a small boy in order to get one?

Take the money you were going to use for a cheap suit and tailor, and put it in an envelope. Give this envelope to them, but only after you've made sure it's free bar.

Wear whatever. No one gives a shit about any fashion but the bride's and even then she's probably some whore right?

Cheap suits are fine. You've got the right idea--it's all about tailoring, how it fits on your body. A classic two button suit should do you right.

You could get away with a dress shirt and slacks, but your idea is also a good one. I recommend you buy a suit that you can also wear to school or job interviews.

If you want to stand out then I recommend a black turtle neck with a Miami Vice style blazer.

Go with a vest and a tie. It will look like you left your jacket on the back of your chair.

Buy something you like as well. You'll look better and you might even wear it again.

let me ask you this: do you think youre opinion is better than that of john danahers?

no. it is not.

and john danaher wore a rash guard to matt serras wedding.

so unless you think youre better than him, you better wear one too.

and not some fancy shmancy 60$ rash gaurch. a <$20 rash guard with the decals fallin off and all

Unless the wedding is in Jimbob's mom's backyard get herself a suit or you are going to look stupid.

* unless you don't give a fuck

and on a more sympathetic note..... if you are an average size dude, (I am not, I am the typical sherdog 6'3 230.... so this wouldn't work for me) check out estate sales if you have a few months before the wedding, maybe you will get lucky and some dead guy your size has a closet full of suits and you can score 1-2 for next to nothing. It is worth a shot if you have time, before going towards more expensive options.

Unfortunately if you are not 5'7-5'11 and average weight/build you may be S.O.L. and have to buy something.
If so- make it versatile so you can use it again if needed for a funeral or bar tending gig or whatever other shit might come up in life that requires a suit.

Get a suit tailored suit. If it looks good on you no one will care who's name is on the label.

just don't wear jeans or a windbreaker. not a terrible idea to buy a suite if you don't have one, tho. how big a whore is the bride?

agreed. i went to a friend's wedding a few months back, and there was one dude who wore faded jeans and one of those over-sized black shirts you see at clubs. i face-palmed every time i saw him. even people wearing khakis and buttoned-up shirts looked odd. it's the one time you really do want to wear a suit.

Time to get a suit, doesn't have to be expensive.
