Television What to do if you find a large amount of cash?

Keep half, give the other half to the Church. As for cleaning it, that is what casinos, used cars dealerships, gyms, car washes, and the like are for.

Still waiting for the day I find it

If I was Josh Brolin in No Country for old men, I would have dumped the money out the second I got home to count it and roll around in it. That's when I would have discovered the tracking device and then destroyed it.

Movie over.

It always bothers me that he goes back to help a cartel member. Like he vet ass is feeling concious about some drug trafficker bleeding out.

Will you ever really be comfortable again? Even Lewyellen knew that in No Country when he said “at what point would you stop looking for 2 million dollars?!” Even with the money, a life always looking over your shoulder is no life at all
Yeah but he handled the situation like a dummy. He could have gotten away clean, but that's a boring movie.

I guess it was supposed to make us like him and think of him as a good man but going back to give a man who was on the verge of death hours earlier was such a stupid way for him to leave his truck at the scene to be tracked

Suspecting all sorts of security cameras would film me finding it, I'd turn it in and turn that new found celebrity status into some money?

Unmarked. I know you can eventually do something with it but let's just say you need to spend it soon. In the show the guy's kid needed a operation. And he was trying to figure out how to make the cash legal or spendable.

Why couldn't you just buy a bunch of gold with cash and then sell it. Use the check they give you to deposit it in the bank and if anyone ever asks you just tell them I've had the gold for years. I sold it and I paid taxes on it. How are you going to prove otherwise.

Anyone that could sell you a very large amount of gold really quickly usually has a very large amount of paperwork for you to fill out to go along with it.

You would need to buy small amounts over time to not draw any attention.

You can also turn it in as found money and then if not claimed after 12 months it is yours free clear, as i understand it. No druggies are going to claim it as they would have to prove where the funds came from.

I would consider turning in around $9MM while keeping $1MM to live off and yes , laundering it thru a casino. Buy chips but don't gamble and then turn in chips later in the day for clean cash.

Pay bills in cash, keep filling your savings with what you would have in expenses. Load up a bunch of Visa gift cards with cash and use these for larger purchases. Buy small amounts of Treasury notes, certificates of deposits. Make frequent but small denomination deposits to your savings account in cash. Eventually, over time, you will have a large and diverse source of assets, and a history that looks like someone who has been saving and investing. Just got to avoid panicking and blabbering about having money.

First thing I think I would do would be to bury it for like five to ten years. The reason is to give it time for criminals or authorities to stop looking for it. I would also divide it into five caches of $2 million each, just in case any of them were found by someone else just as I had found them.

I would periodically check the sites, maybe once a month each, to keep an eye on them.

Over those five to ten years I’d start exploring options on how to launder the money once I felt it was safe to dig it up. I’d do research, may touch base with some “unsavoury” lawyers or accountants that could help me out. Then I would start following through on their advice, whether that involves opening up car washes or laser tag places. The running joke in Edmonton is that our multitude of Donair shops are all for laundering drug money, so maybe I’d hire a couple of Lebanese dudes to run a Donair shop and be its face for me.

Once I had the money laundered etc I would buy a big house and a fancy car, maybe a separate vacation property, then set up a college fund for my kids and a retirement fund for me with the rest.

Since each US bill weighs one gram, $10 million in $100 bills would be 100,000 $100 bills or about 220 lbs of bills.

If you cashed one bill every day, it would take almost 274 years to use it all. 10 bills a day would still take 27 years.

I'd buy gold and silver. Mostly gold. I'd bury the cash in my back yard, pull out 15k at a time every weekend, then drive to different coin shops in my state and buy gold coins and silver bars.

Gold is around just under $1800 an ounce last time I looked.

Gold is small and valuable. Easy hide.

You watch too many movies...

I collect gold and silver. Ain't no paperwork when you go to a coin shop and they have plenty of gold and silver.

Give them cash, they give you however many gold coins you want, you leave. No paperwork, no questions asked.

Yeah, which is exactly why I said you had to buy small amounts over time.

But to try and launder a large amount of found cash via gold, would absolutely generate a lot of paperwork in any coin shop, pawn shop, refinery/smelter, etc.

$10,000,000 = over 5500 ounces of gold right now. No one is going to have that much gold on hand, and if they did, sell it to you without it generating paperwork.

I buy and sell quantities of gold and silver regularly, numismatics too; and it is often a lot, like multiple ten's of thousands of dollars worth. Approaching $100k at times. There's paperwork.

First thing would be to be patient. Hide the money and let it sit there until the heat dies down, maybe a few years. When you do decide to use it, don’t do anything that would attract attention to your spending habits. Launder in smaller amounts, even if that takes time. Start a small business so that you can explain the extra income.

If i found a suitcase with 10 million dollars somewhere, most of the scenarios running through my head would be bad. Like id assume it was drug related etc. I would briefly contemplate how I could keep it without being found out but in the end I would chicken out because I’d just assume I’d slip up somewhere down the line and get my family killed.

I'd keep it and buy some art, like everyone else who wants to launder millions of dollars

I would be a sneaker reseller and flip various fast moving items like specific gym equipment for a small loss.
