They are keeping their free TV partner happy.

Why does UFC needs to make things so complicated? So they divided the card in fight pass prelims then FSI prelims (???) and then the pay per view fights. Okay I have fight pass and I will have pay per view. But that the hell is FSI? I want/need to watch Maia fight!!
the prelims have always been on different platforms, the fightpass prelims used to be on facebook, then also on youtube.

the FS1 prelims are on Fox Sports 1 in America, in the UK we get them on the same channel we get the main card.

And to answer your question, it's because Fox pays the UFC millions of dollars for the rights to air the fights.

It's not just on FS1.
It's on one of the TSN sport channels where I live.

Depending on your country, you can watch all the prelims on Fight Pass.

Only for certain countries though. Luckily for me, it's the case here.

This is the message I am getting now on Fight PASS (see below). GB is clearly there so don't lie you can't watch the event.

Due to broadcast restrictions, this video is not available within a UFC® FIGHT PASS™ subscription or as a pay-per-view in your region. Please check your local TV listings for viewing information.

This event is currently blacked out in Country code: AR, AW, BB, BO, BR, BZ, CA, CL, CO, CR, DM, DO, EC, GB, GD, GT, GY, HN, HT, IT, JM, KY, MX, NI, PA, PE, PR, PY, SM, SR, SV, TT, US, UY VE and VI..

I agree that it's kind of annoying to have to go from Fight Pass to FS1 to pay-per-view, but I don't share your confusion about what FS1 is. My main gripe is I have to watch Fight Pass on my desktop in my bedroom, then go into the living room to watch the FS1 prelims and the PPV. Perhaps it's time for me to finally get cable on the bedroom TV.

Buy a tiny box computer for your living room tv. I use it for all sorts of things, streaming fights, music, emulators, streaming torrents. It was only $200
