This guy used to be talked about ALL THE TIME on these forums. I remember some Sherdoggers claiming he'd knock out Fedor in a Super fight. His hype train came to a halt after getting KO'd in 10 seconds by a 205er with pink toenails who threw the weakest punch ever. Then he was on TUF and his "fight" with Roy Nelson was the most watched episode in history. Roy basically lay on top of him with his fat belly in Kimbo's face throwing baby punches till he won. After getting schooled by Matt Mitrione, he announced a boxing career with Gary Shaw as his manager. He's currently 7-0 in boxing, all unimpressive wins over cans. His last match was 16 months ago. At age 40, can we say he's done as a fighter? And why do so many MMA fans buy into a hype train for someone that clearly doesn't have the skills to be a top level fighter?
he got exposed and quit mma.. Thats what happened. BTW he was never hyped up on SD by anybody other than trolls. Not even SD bought into his hype.
if you can find one legit post of anybody claiming he'd ko fedor i'll paypal you 10 euros. otherwise you're full of it.
On TUF he revealed himself to be a cool, chilled out motherfucker just trying make some money throwin' down. I'm glad he got a short stint in the UFC, good for him.
What Isa posted. He had some pro boxing fights, all four rounders, last time he fought was January 2013. Record of 7-0 with 6 KOs, fighting other inexperienced boxers opponent, opponent's record at time of fight, and current record James Wade, 0-1, 0-3 Tay Bledsoe, 2-3, 2-4 Charles Hackmann, 0-1, 1-2 (only fight to go to a decision) Brian Green, 0-0, 0-1 Jesse Porter, 3-4, 3-5 Howard Jones, 5-4, 5-5 Shane Tilyard, 6-6, 6-7 A can crushing other cans.
Obviously not the weakest punch ever! Literally or figuratively. And you obviously know little about punching - a punch doesn't need a huge wind up to be powerful.
Oh and hype train was due to his looks/image and the romanticism of him being a well known backyard brawler with a huge following on the internet.
Clicked on this expecting a Brett Rodgers thread, for some reason. Never mind Kimbo - what happened to Bobby Lashley? Did he give up on MMA?
I use to watch his street fights on Youtube. As soon as I saw him fight Sean Gannon I knew he couldn't make it in MMA. But you gotta give the guy some props. He took his Youtube video's and made a name for himself as well as some money along the way.
I always though Brett Rogers' career would have turned out so much better for him had he managed to get the fight with Kimbo that he was lobbying for.
he was the first guy to ever expose Dana marketing hype and lies. Trashed Kimbo and said he can come to the UFC if he wins TUF. Gets a shit load of viewers while losing. Dana starts to kiss his ass and hang on his balls for the $$$.
