Gaethje might be the hardest hitter in that division and Tony is known to take damage in his fights so the outcome was what we saw: gaethje didn't get tired and stopped tony who can only take so much damage. He's human after all even if he's super durable.

He's too skinny and other wrestlers of lesser skill were able to hold him down. 2 BJJ guys just did the same thing but better. So in short, he was never ruined, just bad matchups and he has not really fought many top 5 guys during his run.
