What Retired UFC Fighter Do You Miss The Most?

GSP but in saying that I hope he stays retired now he has blown his other knee .

God hates you... :icon_twis

GSP of coarse for the simple fact that he wouldn't have as much time to do dumb commercials. Ohh, and the p4p goat thing too.

Hughes.

I don't want to see him come out of retirement, though.

I was pretty upset when he came out to fight Koscheck cause I knew he was going to get slaughtered.

(1) Marco Ruas- The legendary vale tudo hero was in his prime back in '92-'95. He was the prototypical high-level striker grappler before guys like Frank Shamrock, GSP, Bas Rutten or others started cross-training. The Gracies avoided him for a reason in Brazil.

(2) Frank Shamrock- Along with Sakuraba, he was the top under-200lbs MMA fighter from that '98-00 period. Great charisma, crafty, improved striking, and endless cardio....

King of the Streets FTW! Every once in a while somebody speaks up on here that actually remembers shit. Always nice to see.

For me it's Bas Rutten. He was ahead of his time, it sucks that his prime was spent mashing guys in Pancrase and not matching up with guys like Anderson Silva and Machida. I don't think I know of a more cerebral fighter in the ring, he would actually listen to his opponent's corner and implement whatever they were calling for, to confuse them. Just, for him to be such a good striker, much better than the vast majority of guys you see today even some at the top of their divisions, and to show such an aptitude for grappling so close to the career ending injuries that he suffered is just a shame. One of the only guys I've ever seen legitimately beat someone to a pulp from guard.

Carwin is the right answer for me

He was very raw. If he could have added a little more technical ability to his unparalled physical tools it would have been truly scary

This thread literally ruined my morning

Good job though

I miss seeing Randy Couture fight. I was a big "Captain America" fan. I loved how Couture at 44 or 45 years old could kick guys; asses who were 10 or 20 years younger than him. Randy was a tough old man who wasn't afraid of anyone no matter how much bigger they were and he seemed like a genuinely good guy.

Remember him spanking Tito Otiz and making Tito cry? Or how about beating Tim Sylvia despite Sylvia being about 8 inches taller and 45 pounds heavier? Or his great trilogy of fights with "The Ice Man" Chuck Liddell? Randy was also the first guy to beat "The Phenom" Vitor Belfort at a time when Belfort seemed unstoppable? Or beating Maurice Smith who had beaten Mark Coleman to become UFC Champion and then Couture showed the kickboxer Maurice Smith that a good wrestler could take him down and dominate him, which he did, taking Smith's title in the process.

THIS 100000000 times

Matt Hughes for me, miss watching him finish fuckers with his wrasslin.

Same here. The second Hughes/Trigg fight is really what turned me into a "hardcore" fan, as they say. I was really glad that I got to see him fight in person once, and my wife and I met him at the casino that weekend.

I also miss Gina.

And, I'll admit it, I miss Brock.
