With all this "money fight" nonsense going on, it makes me wonder what you fellow sherdoggers feel makes a fighter qualified for "money fights."

In my recent memory:
BJ Penn vs St. Pierre- BJ was chasing 2 titles simultaneously. St. Pierre and Penn were already huge draws.
A. Silva vs St. Pierre- 2 dominant champs with relatively opposing styles, frames, and skill sets. #1 & 2 p4p going head to head brought intrigue.
McGregor vs RDA- Mcgregor was trying to do what BJ could not and be a dual title holder.
McGregor vs Diaz- Put together on 10 days notice. Diaz is a cult hero, McGregor was the UFC's golden goose.

Any others you guys can think of, feel free to add. But most important, what qualifies a fighter for a money fight?

Nothing. There should be rankings that matter and contenders that get their shot when it's earned. Champs get offered a title shot from one of the top contenders. If they don't except it, they forfeit the belt.

They have to bring in the money. People have to care about if/when they fight. Fan favorite (hero/heel). Create an interest. Being a draw. Etc. Top contenders should of course get their shots aswell. Really depends on what options are available to see what can get put together.

All you have to do now is win the title and you get to determine who you fight

Basically when you win the belt you also become Joe Silva

Nowadays the only real money fights are Conor and Ronda.
Nate will join the list after 202 tho

Being a huge draw and possibly having the belt already. Either and both gives you leverage.
