if you run and lift in the same session wich one shoud be first

I'd think running would be better first because you are not tearing up your muscles like lifting does.

I may be wrong but thats what i would assume

I would lift first because with the nature of running it seems easier for me to push myself. As opposed to trying to lift weights while tired and possibly missing a lift/having a bad lift; I don't think I've ever had a bad run.

Run in the morning to jumpstart your metabolism lift in the evening or mid day.

If you're lifting to get stronger, you should lift before you run. Make sure you drink something like a PWO after you lift and before you run.

Lift before running, after weight lifting ur body is already on a high metabolism which makes ur cardio more effective, both for fatburning and conditioning purposes...

This is what I do

My number of reps are down and my legs are achey to hell, but the conditioning is what I train for and need. My lifting has progressively got stronger (well, I'm trying to play catch up after a break).

I have done it the other way as well, lift in the am, MT and run at night. I progressed either way to be honest.

I have a slightly different take since the original poster is a fighter. I've always thought that lifting weights in preparation for fighting (including wrestling, BJJ, etc.) should be done to increase endurance as much as strength. When I was training harder, I liked to run right before lifting weights (running hard, sometimes even with a few sprints at the end if there was a track available). It definitely made me tired and decreased the weight I could use, but I felt it mimicked the type of strength I was looking for (i.e. being able to throw a guy in the third period or put together a hard combination in the 4th round).

I don't have any science to back this up as the right approach, but it might be something to try for a few weeks. It's definitely not a way to increase your bench press, but you might find your functional fighting strength improving.

I came across something in the newspaper the other week about a study which suggested that 20 minutes of lifting before aerobic exercise aids in fat burning (I'm still looking for online refs). Normally you don't start properly burning fat until after 30 minutes of sustained exercise, but lifting beforehand amps your metabolism up so that you start burning it right away. So even if you don't want to lift seriously before a run, doing at least a couple of rounda of complexes will give you a boost.

I run before lifting.. I have tried both, but prefer running immediately before..

because of time limits im forced to do weights at 7pm and then do bjj at 8pm. it hasnt really effected me to much but by the time it comes to roll at 9.30pm im kinda fucked. aint got an option to do it any other way though.
