I'm curious about this, I know there's a lot of rich people out there for who $60 bucks is like 60 cents, but I'm talking about the average working class Joe.
I mean, there's internet now... isn't buying a PPV kinda like buying a porno dvd these days... paying for something that's widely available for free??
You're asking the question wrong. The right question is:
What percentage of PPV's to does the average MMA fan buy?
I think most of us are okay with paying for a fight now and then in one way or another (get a group of guys together, go to a pub, etc), but there aren't many people who are going to pay $100 or so per month to watch their sport of choice.
PPV model is garbage, and Zuffa needs to figure out for themselves when the best time is to jump ship... but it's one of those deals where you get out too early and you lose some dollars, you get out a bit late and someone with better timing may get a competitive foothold and beat you senseless with it.
It's called the innovator's dilemma. Look up what happened to Kodak.
