Full disclosure I do have genetic advantages or abnormalities depending on how you want to look at it that make people stare at me which I interpret as me visually exuding coolness..
But things that I have always noticed that generally makes a guy "cool" from an American pop culture standpoint is
1.Jewelry. or the fine watch. From what I've noticed, you cant really be cool if you're a guy and have a cheap time piece.
2. Clothing. obvious answer for most of us. But I've always noticed that the harder one tries with the skinny jeans, and the kangol's, and the Timberland boots. The less cool they actually seem for instance. I typically wear homemade Jorts and a quicksilver rash guard in public. I think most that view me think I'm cool. Granted not many humans can pull coolness off with a $65 dollar outfit but hey.
3. Car. I'm not talking a GD Lambo, or a Ferrari. The vast Majority of men cant afford those. What I've noticed is if you have an S.U.V and you're not married. You're unconsciously viewed as cool by your male peers/competitors.
4.Physique. With the exception of Re-run from "what's happening" there has never been a fat guy considered cool ...arguably Belushi that's it. To be cool you have to be either swole like G.O.T's Mountain, or shredded.
5. Education. You cant be too smart and still be truly considered cool. Really think about Zuckerberg's cool factor, it's about a 3 on a 10 scale. And Bill Gates is the epitome of all that is uncool, and nerd....now Steve Jobs was arguably cool because he had the whole evil genius/prick thing going on.
I've noticed that some people when engaged socially by an individual like Steve Jobs intrinsically ass kiss because of fear and misinterpret the vibe he's putting out as cool. And they don't want to be seen as being intimidated.
So what say you sherbrethren? What "things" generally make a guy cool from an American/Western European P.O.V.?
And who is the coolest sherdogger? my vote goes to Sir Bobalito Boulders.(yes I've knighted Bobby B)
