Jon Jones needs use his reach to stay on the outside and jab . Push kicks and the occasional high kick will work in his favor. He needs to control the center of the octagon by circling any which way.
If they do clinch , Jones needs to explode and bang off 1 or 2 strikes and disengage completely. DC on the other hands to needs to maintain over-unders and try to single leg Jones against the fence.

For DC's stand up, he needs to low kick the legs and constantly push forward. The cardio game , endurance is in DCs favor. If he attacks the body earlier and often , Jones head will open up more in the later rounds.

On the ground, DC needs to stay offensive with GNP and not make this a nogi JJ match with Jones. DC cannot get greedy with passing either or Jones will just reverse him. DC can really mix it up and confuse Jones if he lets him up and goes for some GNP/re-takedowns as Jones is trying to stand up.

For Jones on the ground, he needs to play a tight JJ game and constantly pass , and go for little GNP. Control DCs head and slowly cut his bloodflow and Jones will lock in a spectacular Von Flu choke.

I actually have DC winning this because he'll be better at sticking to the gameplan , he has better endurance, and his chin is too durable to be hurt by Jones though he can be outpointed.

Jones: Show Up.

DC: Hope Jones doesn't show up.

Now I have to wonder if you actually have trained in all these disciplines.

1. DC is behind on the cardio game, he's fat and gassed out in the first fight and after laying on top of Anderson for three rounds and being 38 doesn't help.
2. DC has the shorter legs and arms, even though JJ is a bigger target, DC can't reach him before JJ reaching him first once he closes the distance as JJ does not need to come forward to land kicks/punches on DC thanks to his freakishly long limbs.
3. The first fight was pretty evident of who had the grappling advantage. Taking down JJ then then landing successful GNP? Like who has done that before? JJ is also great off his back and we've seen a lackluster top heavy submission game from DC.
3.5 He couldn't get a kimura or think of another submission to try on AJ in the first fight, and was pretty slow when he was resting on top of the aging legend in Hendo.
4. Yeah DC has the chin advantage but JJ does not need to TKO or submit him for a win, he could just pace himself and DC will tire out due to the pressure he would have maintain and the shots he will eat when he's closing the distance.

However, ring rust may be a factor that can work in DC's favor.

Here is my brief breakdown of how/why Jones will win and why the outcome was close the first time, although I am very JJ biased.

Jones handled him in the first match and apparently he was partying. If he shows up like he did against OSP (rusty, bad timing, tentative) DC has a legit chance. Otherwise Jones is more athletic, longer and is just better everywhere.

In terms of strategy, DC's only chance is to keep the fight very close (dirty boxing, hold against the cage, etc.) or by some chance get Jones on his back, which is really fucking tough. If he lets Jones fight outside he has not chance. Even if he gets inside Bones is very nasty with elbows and has great wrestling too.

DC is a great fighter but Bones is the GOAT.

I'm not sure about the "chin" advantage. Bones has never been hit with a bomb (like Rumble) but DC doesn't have power like that anyway. That's why it's really hard for him to win.

DC made 1 critical mistake in the first fight that potentially cost him the fight. It was a sloppy leg kick that Jones caught and used to take DC down. Dc wasted a lot of energy during this time. If Dc fights a smart fight, brings a dog fight, I don't see post usada Jones beating him. DC via sub in under 3 rounds. Heard it first here.

Jones shows up and is still the best fighter in the world. He can fight DC anywhere. In or out. He can wrestle him or stand with him. His conditioning was better as well last time. Jones needs to be Jones. If that happens DC can't win..

I don't agree that the cardio favors DC. You're assuming Jones won't be able to display the cardio he has shown in the past. He completely dominated the championship rounds in their first fight. Also, you're assuming Cormier can take Jones down when he was unsuccessful in nearly every attempt in the first fight. I hope he wins, but he needs to be able to close distance without taking 3 shots before getting inside jones kicks and knees.

DC needs to stick to his dirty boxing while not hanging out in the clinch too long. Get in land and get out. He closed the distance much better than I anticipated in the first fight. He spent way too much energy on TD attempts that he was not having any luck with. Yes, he can take Jones down but if it's not there, don't forfeit rounds and cardio. Needs to pace himself better.

Bones...Maintain distance and make DC pay for attempting clinches. Jsb down the pipe everytime DC closes. Tie him up and get him down. Use his frame as leverage against the shorter DC.
