What is your all time 'broken will' fight?

For example Rich Franklin looked like he was having his soul taken from him when he couldn't escape the plum against Anderson Silva.
That’s a good one.

Nick Diaz in his last fight.

Lawler vs Rory. Rory was ahead and just needed to survive. He didn’t and wasn’t the same guy after that.

BJ in the rematch with GSP.

Some of these guys need saving from themselves. It’s obvious to everyone watching it. When you’re done, you’re done.

I hope somebody will stop the fight.

And that’s all she wrote.

Edit.

Yeah Conor in the Khabib fight. @Zebra Cheeks

I'm gonna admit it, as on ancient CroCop Fan, JDS in his prime managed to break the worst version of Mirko. Mirko is super tough but too much damage, 100 fights, 10 surgeries, he kinda was off in his UFC fights for the most part. Well it was a dommed start with Gonzaga who had the performance of a lifetime. What a tragic fight. Glad I didn't witness the Gonazag fight live, I might've had an heartatack.

Broken will? Gaethje/Johnson was a good one. Johnson hurt Gaethje but couldn’t finish him and it was a back and forth war until Johnson finally gave up. Epic fight, unreal toughness from Gaethje to walk through the fire like that.

About 1,000,000 thread have been made about wether or not that sub is one you should tap to. Jury’s out, and I’ve never experienced any sub because I don’t grapple so I have no idea what it’s like. But the vibe, the feel, the attitude, the aura afterwards was different for sure.

At least he got the gonzaga on back!

Jake Ellenberger vs Robbie Lawler was pretty bad. Ellenberger was a killer in his prime, but he was shook in that fight and it started a downward spiral. At one point he managed to take Lawler down who had such little worries about it he was smiling while defending himself.

Robbie was in the zone in that period. Yeah he just dominated Jake with a smile. Most unexpected career turn around. Koschek then Rory. Right after coming from Strike force and having just been totally outgunned by Larkin. I did not see that title run coming.

Nick Diaz did well until he started taking damage and he quit early. But was later revealed his neck was fcked up and he needed surgery to replace 2 disks. So Nick quitting early in that fight makes sense. Seems like he was trying to win without injuring himself more and hoping to finish Lawler before taking too much damage. When that didn't happen and Lawler started coming on strong and Diaz was starting to gas, he gave up to protect his health.

Rory had a broken nose so he could still fight, but he got hit repeatedly in the nose over and over again in the last round and that's what ended the fight for him. It was a close fight and both had damage, Lawler's lip was cut and split wide open. So it wasn't just Rory with damage in that fight leading up to the 5th round.

BJ was just exhausted, he wasn't really damaged, that was just his will breaking. He had nothing for GSP and he gave up since he also wasn't in any shape to keep fighting. He knew it was just going to be the same thing over and over again each round. So that was GSP breaking BJ's will.

So for those fights Nick and BJ did quit early to save themselves, only the Rory fight went on another round. But Rory's fight could've gone either way and it was for the belt, a lot was on the line with that fight.

I didn't even feel sad for Gabriel when his forehead had a crater in it. I was like payback. And Mirko showed toughness there. Well Mirko is pure toughness anyways.

Was good to see Mirko have a good last run, really showed grit in there.. He even whooped upon Roy there at the end, getting that one back too!
