Technically this was in the 90's, but it was at the tail end of it, April 1999. There hadn't been any school shootings prior to that with the same impact and victim count, especially when you're talking white mid to upper class young men. Columbine was almost like a starting shot for the 2000's for this group of people, because school shootings have specifically since then become pretty common.

Incels are extremists compared to usual virgins. Their bitterness and crazyness is way off the charts. Like being fans of Elliot Rodger etc. They even attack those among them who have managed to get a girl.

Yeah, I think they know they can pay for it, but the problem is they don't want to, they feel entitled to it and occasionally they resent women and Chad's so much for it that they lash out like Elliot Rodger or the truck attacker in Toronto.

A lot of these guys seem to think interacting with women should be like a video game. A few simple inputs and boom high score! A few of them started rage quitting now too.

Everything has to be a movement now. Being single is called MTGOW and being a virgin is being a part of the incel movement. I'm surprised there's isn't a movement for breathing air.

Incel is a philosophy. They hate women and they think they're all terrible whores who will hurt them. They're extremely pessimistic, they believe they can get never get a date, society is rigged against them, other guys have all the luck, etc. The women hate and the homicidal tendencies are just externalization of internal issues. Plenty of guys have trouble with girls, but they don't buy into the rhetoric and they don't self-identify as incel.

Interesting, seems you're right. I was aware there were multiple incidents before that, but there were much more than I was under the assumption it was. I was thinking more in terms of school mass shootings as opposed to 1 or 2 victims, which would drop off the numbers significantly, but even that term seems to be a bit under contention.

Crime rates say different.
The 80's and 90's had more violent young men than any other decade.
And no normal person knows who Elliot Rodgers is or any type of forum that would speak about him.

Pretty much this. Used to be just having a job and not being a complete asshole was enough.

But women being financially independent and the emergence of social media has changed the game. A girl that's a 5 simply doesn't have to date a guy that's a 5. She can canvass the nation looking for better options.

A lot of people just haven't learned how to change with the times, so they get angry. I get it in a way, but trying to guilt or shame a girl into fucking you has to be the lowest percentage option available.


And TS, comparing older people that are probably experienced and have a lower sex drive, to twenty something guys that are still horny, is a bit apples and oranges

I think a lot of it has to do with how the internet allows the things that an incel would be upset about to be compounded, making them worse. When it's just happening in their circle, then sure there being a handful of desired women they can't get sucks, but they could at least console themselves by telling themselves "it's just the girls here. They are better somewhere else" or "girls are just golddiggers". Now they see women from all over kind of find appeal in similar traits that these guys don't have, and they see that women do like guys that aren't necessarily rich or great looking, and that takes away their built-in excuses leaving them even deeper in a hole.



I do feel like repressive sexual views in our society play into these kinds of things. If they had grown up in a place where the concept of prostitution is just a normal, even if fringe, part of society, they would probably just be upset about the lack of ability to get women and go out with friends and bang sex workers. Beyond that, maybe doing so would make it easier for them to communicate with women and learn things about them, instead of looking at them as these objects from afar.

Yeah I've said this before, but a lot of people were raised with their parents telling them theyre special, they don't have to conform to fit in, just find that person that loves them for them.

And that applies to both genders. In past generations that might have eventually lined up with someone feeling forced by lack of options to settle for them. But in this new era of social media, less people are settling. Especially attractive people, which everyone wants.

I think that's lead to a lot of these crazy radical feminists and incels. Mom said one day they'd stop being picked last, and mom was wrong. Now they're being told to get what they want they DO have to change and conform, and that is just too big of a blow to the ego for them.

Before we get started, I talked to older folks who were lonely in the 80s or 90s and they coped with it by learning unique skills like entertainment hypnosis or engaged in technology or trying to invent things or computer coding. But now, todays incel seem very angry and violent.

Don't get me wrong, socially awkward human beings have always existed since its an aspect of human nature. But with the likes of Elliot Rodger and the Toronto van attacker, it seems like many are choosing violence as an avenue and I don't know why?

Just to clarify, Incel is " involuntary celibate" people that are lacking in social skills or unable to find female companionship.
