What is too early to get married?

I posted a while back about a hard breakup, and I found out yesterday that my ex of 2 and a half years, got married to the guy she basically left me for (she claimed everything happened after) after less than 6 MONTHS!! I remember mentioning to her moving in together and she seemed hesitant so I back out. She just turned 22 btw.

What do you guys think? What is too early for marrying someone?

My mom was married 30 years and 2 months after my dad died she made a joke about dating again, and 5 months after she had a new boyfriend. Lost respect for my mom after that
 
Its different for men and women.

We don't have the same clock they do. For women at the ages of 25-30 if it hasnt happened yet their market value takes a serious nose dive .It takes two to tango but typically the girl will always be younger for that reason.

We're dudes. We get to take our sweet ass time.

Edit: what I'm saying is that girls tend to rush these things. This is why they always talk about "commitment issues" when you have slapped a ring on it directly after sex.

But not really talking about age, rather talking about how long do you date before you get married?
 
6 months is a too soon, but she's 22 and young people tend to make horrible decisions.

My wife and I dated for 3 years before we got married. Been married for 22 years now and I'm very happy. It's WORK though. You've got to work on a marriage, you just can't put a ring on someone and think "all my problems are over".

Not if you really mean it, anyway...

I had a guy I worked with who had just turned 20, his wife was 19. She attempted suicide in front of him.

They got married far too soon.

I was that guy that left someone for someone else and married the someone else; but it was 2 years after the fact, not 6 months. I wouldn't take it too personally. If you're not a match, you're just simply not a match, and best to know it now before finances and children get involved. My wife and I were 24 and 22 when we got married.... way too young. I don't know if there's a definite age, but I'd say at least have your career going forward. If you don't have all your debts paid off, at least have them under control with a clear plan to pay them all off.

You should date at least 2 years before even considering it.

I'm 38 and don't have much interest in getting married.

At least not anytime soon.

I'm happy working, travelling abroad at least once a year solo, working out, going out, all on my own terms.

Maybe I'll consider marriage somewhere down the line, but I'm not there yet.
 
I worked with a 21 year old was engaged to be married to a woman he was living with. I met his fiance at the company Christmas party and I thought they didn't make a good couple. They had some kind of argument one Saturday night. She ended up with 2 black eyes and he ended up dead with a bullet in his head. She says he shot himself. She was living with another guy in a week and married 2 months after he died. That seemed a little soon.

Yes I understand but like I said it's different for men and women because of their expiration dates.

For women 6 months is enough and they tend to settle WAAAY more often than men do. For men it could be like 2 years and still you would need to calculate whether or not it's a good decision.

But to answer your question 6 months is flat out retarded and a year minimum imo would be fine.


So anything less than a year is too early.

Dude up here is 38 and still isn't in a rush. A woman at his age would have given up at this point.

Wouldn't be surprised if he said the same shit at 58.

I don’t think you should blame her for that. Everyone is different.
