There is an ongoing thread right now about the modern Democratic party's message. Unsurprisingly, it appears that the Democratic message is interpreted drastically differently depending on who you ask. That made me wonder how different people are interpreting the Republican message.

I'm not sure that the platform is expressed very well in the branding. If you look at the Democrats, they're pretty much advocating on point.

With Republicans, it's naked trickle-down economic policy, including regressive tax movement, maximal deregulation, and reduced environmental protection. No voters actually agree with any of that, aside from a few amoral libertarians, so the argument is made through fear. Fear chicks with dicks, fear Mexicans, fear blacks, etc. That's why we need to strip away the freedom of labor- because the gays are coming to get you.

Seriously, though, I think this is one I'd like to see a sincere response to from people who like the message.

I'm wondering: if the sincere responses don't amount to more than right wing platitudes and bumper sticker slogans, is it safe to conclude that most supporters don't really know their own platform.
