Everyone love to talk about how Brazilians have been on a serious decline in the last few years and is no longer the face of UFC because of Usada but no one wants to talk about the decline of Anglo fighters who are also diminishing in numbers.

I'm genuinely curious what is causing this? There's only Gaethje, Porier, Colby and Chandler but it doesn't look like they'll last long in terms of keeping up.

Honestly it's probably because they all have never fought before growing up in the suburbs lol. Kinda hard to learn that once you're an adult

I don't think there's a decline as such it's just that initially MMA was more of a white American thing culturally (outside Japan and Brazil ) and now it's a global sport. So you now have swathes of other fighters from different countries, races and cultures competing to be the best.

That and when the early UFC were around, you might have one or two international ringers, but the rest were basically schlobs off the street fighting for basically nothing.
I think it was for a $1,000 and a chance to go on in the tourney for $ 50,000.

I wonder how long the casual American fanbase :p
will keep watching when most of the roster is dominated by Eastern Russian Mountain men <{1-10}>

they’re already turning off. White middle class Americans want people they can identify with like Couture, Liddell, Franklin, Hughes, Rousey, Tate.

There's not a lot of Eastern European American, Italian American, Jewish American, Mexican American, Puerto Rican, Irish American, Cajun, Native American, Cuban American etc killing it either. Fair amount if Nordic Americans in the in the Northern most East and Mid West and Dutch Americans in Pennsylvania. Can't forget Polish Americans either shout out to Chicago and whatnot. Or and African Americans haven't been doing so well anymore either, seems like Africans like Usman, Izzy a s N'Gannou have been crushing.

What's your opinions on this @Misanthropist ?

People are built differently. Anglos have high intelligence and creativity, which seems to come at the sacrifice of brawn. A body that is genetically programmed to build an impressive brain is less likely to have the genetics needed for a thick skeletal frame. Also, high intelligence might be a handicap in a fight, since a fighter needs to believe he is going to win, no matter how unlikely that is. Anxiety is positively associated with intelligence and is a disadvantage in the ring.

People turn a blind eye to the fact “white flight” has always been a thing. The country has a history of segregation that is still evident today despite a lot of political correctness spoken.

It’s exactly why people like Ortega walk out with a Mexican flag - stars n bars nowhere in sight. Sterling drapes himself in a Jamaican flag, etc.

Nailed it.

The 'decline' is really just others coming in

What's the difference between Anglo and white ?
