People talking about this like it's Thanksgiving. I know I've heard the term before, but I never heard people actually talk about it seriously until just now. What makes it different than any other week with a fight scheduled?

They used to do it by having 3 cards on successive nights. A TUF Finale, a FN, and a PPV.

There is the fan expo.. Meet, and greets. Autographs, pictures. Q&As, etc, where they bring in loads of UFC fighters to interact with the fans.

More or less an annual birthday party that is supposed to be a thank you to the fans.

But this one falls woefully short, imo.

Don't know what ya got til it's gone. I remember driving down to my bros in NC and took my vacation based around it. This was 2016 or 2018? Those days are long gone.

Imagine if they had Interracial Fight Week lol

It doesnt really mean anything lol , it just catchy logo they can film in a regular PPv event .

it used to be bigger and look a lot more fun. I remember when they’d even do 2 fight cards a week once in a blue moon.

Now it’s just a promotional week they can throw a lesser popular fighters on there to feign more of an interest in them like it’s a special event. (See UFC Noche)

I was in Vegas for UFC 175 (Sat) and a TUF Finale (Sun) headlined by Frankie vs Tippy Toes BJ Penn which was international fight week, 4th of July (Friday) weekend, and my buddy's bachelor party.

Fucking crazy weekend.
Great fights.
Weidman vs Machida, Ronda vs some overmatched soccer mom
(Alexis Davis I think)
Lots of drugs booze and strippers.
Good times.

It was supposed to have Vitor vs Sonnen (at one point Wandy was also booked) ... which would have been some sort of unofficial roid championship of the world, and also Struve vs Mitrione was canceled on fight day.
Whatever... still a great weekend.

Always dig it when a fellow Sherdogger shares a memory of an event they attended, thanks.
