I've heard he walks around about 160lbs range. But I have no source and I don't remember where I heard it before. He is big for 135 and cuts quite a bit of weight I know that.
walk around weight is so enigmatic though. If you're under 5'10 it's hard to be super cut (ie low bf%) and walk around over 150-160. Cruz gets super cut before fights, I'll bet that 160 figure is when he has about 10lbs more "padding" on him than before a fight. It'd be hard to fight at 135 cutting more than 10lbs max of water. A lot of guys talk about "cutting" and what they really mean is DIETing. Cutting to me means water weight, and it's a very taxing thing to go through and fight, especially for champions fighting 25 minute fights. Cruz walks around at 160 maybe, it could be 200 for all I care. I want to know what he CUTS, meaning what he dehydrates. And that I'd wager starts below 150. I've been super cut personally, and no I'm not a fighter so take it for what it's worth, but I look slim and still see my abs and NOBODY on earth would call me fat when i'm 15+lbs over my super cut anatomy drawing Edson Barboza esque look. People can diet away a LOT more fat than they usually think, you really don't know til you do it for yourself and have that 6 pack (no fuck that, 8 pack) look where you really can't even grab any "extra skin" because you're so lean. It's a different kind of lean. It's a much much much lighter weight than you ever thought you could get to.
Was on a Fuel show with Bryant hosting, seem to remember the feed cut back to the studio and I don't think they knew they were on air. I Remember she asked him what was his walkaround weight and he said 158.
I agree.. Atm I'm trying out for a lower weightclass. I used to be at 170 lbs, with 11% bf. That was when I was lifting weights for looks and bulking up at the same time. Now I do it more for the purpose of strength in grappling. I weigh 160 and stand exactly 6 foot tall. BF is at 9. I could drop down to 135 with a little dieting and cutting the rest of the way. Anything is possible. I'm fighting lower atm to see how it affects my performance and what advantages I might gain, or what disadvantages I might be met by.
Think about it like this, 160 at 9% means you have 145.6lbs lean body mass. If you got down to 5% bf, you'd weigh 153.23lbs. I don't know that you could make 135 at your current lean body mass, assuming you actually are 9% right now at 160. It's very hard to accurately measure body fat without using very advanced tools. When I'd measure my bf% on a bathroom scale at my leanest point, it would usually say 3.something or "err" for error, meaning it couldn't measure that low. In reality I was probably ~5%. Unless you did a super accurate reading at a gym or some other kind of facility, it's possible you could drop more weight. With the numbers you gave me, it'll be hard to make 135 though. But like you said, anything is possible. But you don't want to dehydrate from 153 to 135, that's fucking hellish.
I agree, I cut 10lbs for a fight and it sucked balls. The cutting part itself didn't suck too bad (I actually only needed to cut 7, but I thought I couldn't be there yet, so I accidentally stayed in the sweat suit until 10lbs) but afterward I felt pretty shitty. Its taxing on your body. If anything, cut less for the sake of being able to fight for a longer career without affecting your health in the long run. If you weigh 153 you shouldn't cut more than like 12 lbs. and that is a lot.
Most 135lbs are around 160 walking around. It's funny how people think cutting 25lb of water weight is extra special.
