Obviously his story is not done yet but with how things have played out for him where does he rank in the heavyweight all time greats? Top5? It's a shame that his career so far has been ruined by injuries if he had managed to stay injjury free he could have maybe had more fghts and wins under his belt and if he continues to get injured that might be it for him and if it is where does he rank in HW in the P4p rankings?

You already said it. So far his legacy is injuries. If not for that potentially interchangeably the greatest alongside The Last Emperor. I remember Fedor being very impressed with him as well, which is in and of itself impressive.

The one who could have been great.

Like unrequited love, the what-if question will haunt Cain til the day he die.

Love it.

In his prime he was simply the best fighter, meaning he would have been a favorite over anyone active in MMA. But his injuries and carrying too much weight for his frame causing him to work very hard to get in shape after layoffs affected his resume in a way that is difficult to think of him as a top 5 HW of all time.

What Is Cain Velázquez Legacy?

The most injuries of any champ in UFC history?

He was elite at holding the division hostage

He beat a crippled Brock Lesnar. Got KO'd by JDS. Held on to the belt via injury, and held up the division for years. Then got demolished by the Greatest Heavyweight to ever compete in the UFC in Werdum, and used the elevation as his excuse for losing.

His only true legacy is JDS. Specifically, he demonstrated that JDS was not good at wrestling.

His legacy is that he was and possibly still is a Bad Motherfucker when he is healthy.

Well, he does have that sweet "Brown Pride" tat, right?

Beating Junior.
That's pretty much his whole career.

He turns 34 this summer. He can still EASILY win the belt again and defend it a few times if he stays relatively healthy, which ofc is a big if. A couple of years from now and majority of the current top HWs are retired and there are zero elite young talent rising. His only competition will basically be Stipe and JDS.

My unpopular opinion is that Cain was at some point the best Heavyweight of all time. A guy who would destroy prime Fedor. If he was the same of the JDS fights, he'd still be the HW champion and we'd be thinking the gap between him and everyone else is too large. But injuries.

I agree with that actually injury free Cain could be HW Goat
