You know that old mental trick of imagining your audience naked when giving a speech? In a similar vein, to increase your success in dealing with the humans you interact with day to day, what if you imagined everyone as wild monkeys? Why would this help? Because think of the way we treat wild animals. We treat them with care. We know it's hard for them to understand us and easy to misunderstand us. We take especial care to help them understand our intentions. We anticipate misunderstandings and crazy reactions at any time and take it with good humor. All these are actually things you need to do with people to successfully interact with them. Whereas if you think of them as humans, you might make the over-optimistic assumption that they understand what you're thinking and will behave in the way you expect. This both reduces your motivation to put effort into communication and increases your frustration when they inevitably don't do what you think they should do.
