If they showed the scorecards at the end of each round it could give the losing fighter incentive to finish the fight. Both fighters would know exactly where they stand and you wouldn't have a situation where the losing fighter actually thought they were winning when they weren't. Some might say it could cause the winning fighter to skate the last round, but it wouldn't happen if the losing fighter knew he had to finish to win.

They show the score each round in other sports like hockey, football, soccer, and most sports. Even wrestling matches have scores for each round.

So, what if they showed the scorecards at the end of each round?

This thread is obligatory after every event lol.

Fighter who knew he was winning would probably just stall.

Or x fighter could see that he is up 2-0 and just run around the cage in the final round.

Honestly I don't understand why they don't. It solves all problems except the guy who wins two rounds can coast. Small price to pay imo for no more suprise horrible decisions and letting the guys know exactly where they stand

I covered this in the OP, he could try but the losing fighter would be trying to finish.

Well, if a guy isn't 100% sure that he's winning then he should be trying to take it out of the judges handes

You're not the first person to come up with this but it'll never happen

Then we'd know the score after each round............

This has been tried it gives to much advantage to the one that is actually winning a close fight. Knowing you are winning a close fight and you have it in the bag will make most fight dance and stall and not take any more risks. They do this already when they think they dominated the first 2 rounds.

Then it would suck going into the third round. That there might be a fighter winning (2-0), that fighter will just outpoint the other fighter and the losing fighter will go headhunting, which is usually a recipe for disaster.

By the way, it favors the winner, because moving away and sniping shots intending to score points is easier. It wouldn't be if it was a square/ring, but an octagon is close to a circle and allows easier lateral movement. Not only that, you would have to think in the third round, if both fighters have good chins, it's not easy to finish in the 3rd or 5th, because the snap in punches/kicks is gone, fighters have best chance of KO in the 1st round, where power is freshest.

According to certain fighters fans, the other fighter should be able to chase after them and cut off the cage, so this scenario is impossible.

TS, I agree and I've always been in support of showing scorecards between rounds.

And your screen name is fucking awesome.

It would be better because I think in close rounds both fighters would know they had to pour it on.

And sure one guy might run around if their ahead, but it already happens now.
