How many wins would he have to rack up before getting back in the title picture. Assuming Cain continues to win.

It depends if he gets absolutely dominated like he did in the 2nd fight.

The fact of the matter though is there's Cain, JDS and then everyone else in that division. Nobody is even close to being on the level of those 2

Yeh it depends on how. Unless it's a controversial decision though I'd say two. If he gets dominated maybe three.

It would be quite a few. I think if he wins, the rematch would be closer for Cain since they would have traded back and forth. Losing twice in a row to the same opponent is a bit more damning. It also depends on how the fight goes. If JDS has Cain really hurt or at least doesn't get dominated like last time, he might be able to turn it around in a couple of fights.

Truly believe JDS personal problems at that time had a great deal to do with the beating he took. Don't think he will get destroyed again but do see him losing.

JDS would grind his way back to the top again and eventually earn a title shot.
Cain & JDS are miles ahead of the entire HW division, imo.

If Cain do beat JDS again then he will be the champ for a long time

It's the same scenario for both.
It's gonna be very weird for the loser since it's the end of the trilogy.
The winner will be like the supreme winner. I don't know if Cain could make 205, but I think it should be the way since Cormier would be his homie @ HWs.
For JDS losing... I sincerely has no clue. He'll keep beating people (not so sure about Cormier tho) until he gets a shot against... Cain again?

no more than 3 at the very most -- probably 2 if Cain continues to win.

I imagine they would try to spread it out though, because really Cain / JDS are on another level from everyone else in that division, and could probably be fighting each other every 2nd fight.

They will do 5 fights. Unless Cain wins 3 in a row than JDS is screwed

I'd say about 5 or 6 wins. I really don't want to hear Cain vs JDS for another 2 years after 166

I could see the UFC protecting potential contenders from JDS should he lose. So he won

I think worrying about the constant takedown attempts by Cain then getting blasted with a huge punch is what caused the beating he took. Never really recovered from that shot.

to say otherwise is just illogical and sad

They are going to trade wins for the rest of their career. If Cain loses, I think there will be a bit of pressure for him to do a super fight or drop to LHW. There just isn't enough guys for him to fight before he's right back to a title shot and JDS/Cain is going to get old.

I'm sure he would get another shot if he lost. Not immediately but I don't see why they wouldn't give him another fight looking at it from a business stand point.

If he gets beat in the same fashion as before, you might as well cut him. Cause he is obviously just a gatekeeper now, and UFC has no room for gatekeepers.
