So everyone was wondering, what would be conor's media aproach in respect to trash talking. After the defeat he did a good job playing the "humble in victory-humble in defeat" card, but i doubt he would be able to come out victorious moraly before the rematch with nate.

So now he started this whole craze with retirement ,to avoid as much of the media obligations and the exposure to nate's trash talking. In the same time he is the center of attention, even some of the more adamant "haters" realise that they want to see him fight (to lose ofcourse),the fans are going nuts and his eventual return to 200 would be an even bigger deal.

No idea if the ufc would be in on such a scheme.Maybe renegotiating money is an added bonus to such a strategy.

Then again maybe he is just in a dark place in his head sometimes...

He was doing a better job of it before announcing his retirement.

Its against human nature to accept the fact we just don't know. But i'm afraid we just don't know.

See Zuffa do this if it brings more revenue though, no doubt.

Well he's off the card now, so that backfired.

Is it possible for him to hide from USADA in Ireland? Just curious.

Some people need to get their heads out of their asses. There is no mystery here. No hidden agendas.

Conor got too big for his britches. DW let him know who calls the shots. And you don't think every other fighter in the promotion don't get what just happened here. The promotion might really like you. They might even promote you. They may even ask who their little darlings may want to fight next. But the PROMOTION runs this show and NOBODY is bigger than the promotion.

Conor fucked up and had a hissy fit. He thought he was a God and he calls the shots.

No way Jose. He acted like the spoiled brat at the store that throws a fit in the checkout line because he's told he can't have the chocolate bar sitting right there. Now Conor get your scrawny butt to the back of the bus with the rest of the help.

Fucking conspiracy bullshit. Open your eyes. The boards have a bad case of tin foil hat disease right now. Searching for crap that doesn't exist. It's exactly what it appears to be.

Conor at all the pressers:

Sure why not.You are probably right.

But why are you having a hissy fit?

Conor went to the negotiating table with the leverage that he still has the FW belt and that loss to Nate is somehow irrelevant....asked for more $$$

I used to think Conor's "I own dis game" bullshit was just part of his act - and maybe it was at first. But at some point I think he actually started to believe it. Now he's getting bitch slapped by reality over it.

It remains to be seen who wins here. Conor could really be the final boss of mma.

To put it succinctly: No. Conor's leverage, bargaining power and business acumen are vastly overstated on this forum, even though he has done quite well for himself. I summed up my thoughts on this in another thread, but the basics of it were this:

"The Fertittas are billionaires who control vast swathes of Las Vegas and come from an organized crime background. If some former plumber's apprentice with a couple of mil in the bank thinks he is going to put those guys over a barrel in a negotiation, then he's in for a rude awakening."

I can't envision a scenario where Conor comes out on the winning end. If he had 500 million sitting around somewhere, then yeah, possibly a different story.
