What happens if Ortega and Aldo finish their opponents, should they fight next? I like that match up. How do you guys think this fight would go? Imo Aldo has a terrible game for Ortega, godly tdd and very good striking with powerful strikes.

I think it would be a great fight for sure but I would rather see Elkins or Moicano fight for the belt .If I can remember correctly Moicano was winning the fight before ortega submitted him .

He just isn't marketable which seems the major concern for who gets title shots

Been a Aldo fan for many years, but he's past his prime, isn't into MMA anymore (hasn't been in a while, imo), and fails to evolve his game. The guy has soooo many tools, but fails to exploit them (get back to loads of leg kicks, use your offensive wrestling/grappling, etc). Such a shame.

I'm also a T Clitty fan, since the beginning (love BJJ based fighters, just my thing). I think Aldo would have good success against Ortega in the early rounds, but I do think Brian would figure him out and get the W, by TKO/KO or sub.

If Jose was serious, would be a fun fight, no doubt.

after ortega and holloway fight there isnt really a top contender if ortega wins. rematch moicano looms, lamas is like probably still sleeping from emmett. frankie lost to ortega and if max loses, frankie and him should fight.

stephens needs to beat aldo so that he can fight for the belt next.

im really thinking ortega and stephens win their next fights and he fights ortega after ortega finishes max.

Aldo needs at least 2 good solid wins before he claims another title shot (Stephens and Ortega at least) he's beaten pretty much a portion of the top of the FW division such as Edgar, Swanson, Lamas, KZ, Mendes (although he's not ranked, but will be back shortly.) I mean when it comes to Aldo, he's beaten the who's who's at 145.

Moicano wouldn't be a bad matchup and is a fight I've actually wanted, both are amazing grapplers, Aldo the more well rounded fighter, but Moicano looking impressive as of late, plus holds a win over Stephens (which is a very underrated win, IMO.) I especially want to see this fight before Father Time catches up to Aldo.

Aldo is still a freaking beast and I can't wait until he schools Stephens and shuts the haters up.

I could see them giving Elkins a shot against a victorious Ortega, simply because they don't want Aldo to get the title off him (and then have to do Aldo vs Frankie or Max again)

Not sure whether there's any other scenario where Elkins gets a shot though. For guys like him win streaks aren't enough.

The sad thing is that Elkin's run doesn't have stellar names, but it's filled with really good competition. The majority of fights he takes are lose-lose situations because his opponents are really good, but have poor name value. He should be Fighting Edgar, not Volanovski.

Lamas fights Bektic in like a week. Great matchup, and if Bektic wins then we have a new contender. Not to mention that Mendes is also back, and KZ should have a fight booked as well....and there's Elkins aka the forgotten contender. That division is flourishing right now.

Sure, why not. I never will get tired of "boxer" Aldo getting smashed.

His last three wins are damn good caliber but they don't scream CONOR or COLBY or YOEL etc, but your right they are sold wins over quality competition

The Volkanovski fights is actually a really good match up I'm looking forward to, but it does nothing for either guy other than add a digit to the win column. You don't beat a name you don't get anything any more
