I had a dream that Jones did this to Cormier, but I woke up before the decision so I don't know what would happen

He wins the Royal Rumble and goes to the Main Event at UFC 200.

Tank Abbott almost did it.

I remember watching freaking out hoping he would pull it off

I'm pretty sure that's a foul under the unified rules, and would likely result in a DQ.

haha yup it was close at one point, I don't even think it was a DQ back then. it wasn't put into the rules until UFC 30

Rogan: it's locked in! He's out he's out!

Goldberg: it is alllllll over! _____ has just been disqualified!

Restart the fight, just like they do when it happens in a ring.

Yawn....

Nothing, he gets put back in the cage and fight resumes

If a fighter throws an opponent over the fence, nothing happens.
BUT the fight will be restarted outside the octagon, into the stands. For safety reason, the ring girls will be moved into the cage.
True story.

That's how you win the hardcore championship belt

Let me correct my answer slightly, whether it is a DQ loss or just a normal foul depends on whether the referee considers throwing someone out of the octagon a 'flagrant' foul or not. So technically it could just be treated as a normal foul, although in reality obv it is flagrant ie DQ.

The fighter to throw his or her opponent out of the ring would likely be disqualified. At best, a no contest. But the fight would be over.

Unified rules of MMA:

FOUL
  • Throwing an opponent out of the ring or caged area

The audience will throw him back in.

it would be more likely someone climb on top of the cage and jump on their opponent pinning him for a W
