What happened to the old Hendricks?

The night he decided to throw 70% changed him as a man..

He was never the same after that..

Same fighter, but now his opponents know about his kill shot and so they defend better.

This. His opponents are all too aware he can KO them and don't risk getting into brawls with him. Hell even Lawler was picking his shots against him.

im pretty sure hendricks is coming out banging tonight. he has to if he wants to stay relavant in the title talks

The old days when he was split decisioning Mike Pierce and Josh Koscheck?

He's not exactly fighting Kampmann or Waldburger any more.

Hendricks has a penchant for getting in close fights, but no one's ever finished Kampmann or Fitch like he did. I think guys got wary of his power after that.

Nothing.

He decided to wrestle more against better strikers.

Against Brown he fought sage because he was coming off a loss.

Didn't Hendricks get away from Team Takedown?

Not too many stoppage losses on Lawler's, Condit's, GSP's, and Brown's records. His striking has actually progressed during this period of time to the point where he was clearly outstriking Robbie Lawler in the middle rounds of their rematch before gassing terribly. Also, his fight with Condit, his fight with GSP, and his first fight with Lawler were all very good fights. It's not as if we're getting shit fight after shit fight, here.

Shhh logic is not welcome here. Forget the fact he has plenty of KOs, amazing fights and a fight of the year performance. He had a boring fight, missed weight and whines so now all the sheeple will repeat after me and say he's a boring fighter

As said before, elite competition.
Deciding to stand and trade leather with Charlie Brenneman and T.J Waldburger is a lot different then doing so against Robbie Lawler and Matt Brown he's been sticking to his roots.

Usada happened.
it's a good point but you'd expect the whole field to take a step change down, which would effectively not be an issue for anyone....some people might have more money/luck tho i guess

He probably never deserved that reputation. He's got a couple big KOs, but he's only got 4 finishes in 12 UFC wins.

high level fights, almost all of them, if he was fighting on the circuit he'd have 12 KOs

edit: some of that is the way he chooses to fight (to win) on the big stage and some of that is his opponents

he ate a ton of punches vs mendes ,, u think he fights safe for real ? why cause he wins by decisions
Mendes was the only person he actually had an exciting fight against... because he was forced to fight. Mendes gave him the fight of his life. Now that Conor KO'd him, he will probably return like Barao and probably be even more safe than before

Machida is the King of safe fighting. Gtfo.
