I'm probably years late to this but I hardly notice refs. It seems like Herb and Big John are the only two (thank God) that officiate the big fights.

Did Steve and Mario finally get the boot or what happened?

You do realize that the UFC does not pick the refs, right???

Will Rosenthal ever be back, or is he precluded based on his criminal history? He was a great ref, only made a couple of mistakes.

Mazzagatti got the axe. Way too many fuck ups. Not his fault though he was such a small guy could only prevent so much damage

You have got to be trolling. He had the awareness of a door knob and was always out of position.

Maybe was the Palhares vs Shields fight. He was way to passive in that fight. Should've taken a point from Palhares for fingers in the eyes.

Great question. I had a look and found this. He is out of jail next month! +52 months of probation.

I don't know if that means he will have to wait over 4 years before getting his licenses again though, but at least he is getting out of the big house..

1356 plants, oh boy.. About 2 million+ worth of cannabis..

I use to hate mazzagotti until I read that article/interview about him. He's a lonely guy and a firefighter in Vegas. I don't think he should be a ref but he's not a bad guy

Mazzagatti should've been fined and fired by the commission. The crap he allowed Palhares to get away with against Shields was damn near criminal.

Hopefully he's gone, You guys will hate on me for saying this but he was biased as hell, I swear that guy always favored the Brazilian fighters in ufc Brazil shows.

Remember Larry Landless? What about Troy Waugh: "FIGHTER ARE YOU READY?!?! FIGHTER ARE YOU READY!?!?!? FIGHT!!!"

Hope they don't hold that background against him, but I bet he will never ref a big show after that unfortunately. A shame too he shouldn't be considered a criminal for that since so many other Americans are making big money off the legal and medicinal marijuana biz.

Rosenthal was an amazing ref. Ya he had a couple screw ups like the Munoz Weidman beat down but overall I always thought he was one of the best if not the best. No one could have reffed the shogun hendo fight better. Most other refs would have stopped it on multiple occasions.
