What happen to it

I mean people talk about Gomi's weakness being the sub defense, but for the first ten years ins his career, fighters who subbed Gomi are

BJ Penn
Marcus Aurelio - One of the biggest upsets in the history of MMA
Nick Diaz - pretty big upset back then. It's crazy how famous Nick Diaz became, considering he was struggling to beat some of the guys who were not as well known before he made his way into UFC again.

Then, afterwards

Kitaoka
Florian
frigging Guida
Nate Diaz

Other than frigging Guida, all of those guys are really really legit submission guys. For example, BJ Penn had Gomi's back for almost entire first round but Gomi fended off and weathered the storm. On the other hand, BJ Penn tapped Matt Hughes after getting his back in the first round, and when he fought Florian, it was pretty quick submission, unless my memory is playing tricks on me, when he took Florian down and took his back.

But then, he is losing to fighters on the level of Lauzon....

Gomi hasn't looked good in a decade really, but come to think about it, I think that's what people were saying back then, his sub defense being his weakness, but he just keeps looking worse and worse and worse and worse.

Drinking happened to Gomi.

Also, way to disrespect Guida, smh.

Gomi's been done since pride folded, he's just fighting for the paycheck now and doesn't train very hard.

Well diaz was rocking him and about to get a tko before gomi shot in setting up the go go.

Secondly he is old as balls now

Gomi spent too much time on his conditioning and striking. Also, I don't think he reacted too well to fighting in the states as opposed to Japan.

his striking looks horseshit though as much as his conditioning

Level of Lauzon??

You may not agree but he is a realy good fighter with a very good Chance to submit the most in hes devision.

He's a really good fighter, but I thought to myself, no matter how run down Gomi might be, as washed as a fighter can be, he should be able to beat Lauzon, but wow he just blew my mind and exceed all my expecations

He didn't look any better in Japan in Sengoku or fighting in Shooto before he came over...

One of the best submission fighters in the LW division.

If you fail to see how elite Guida is then I have no reason to read your post.

Guida elite lol

it's like now every fucking fighter is a legend around here, jeez, I fear the days when Guida will be a fucking legend too, can you imagine

I mean, hell, people act like Chael was any good. Anyone remember how no one gave a fuck about Chael Sonnen in his PRIME

and how no one was surprised that he got DESTROYED by Maia because no one cared about Chael Sonnen?

When he discovered that punching people makes them fall down, he threw away his combat wrestling background.
