Before the fight, it became common knowledge around here that Conor would simply uppercut Khabib when he came in for a takedown. It was also said he didn't have as good of takedowns as Mendes.

Round three was obviously his best opportunity. But he was just worn down by all of that wrestling and grappling. I was actually shocked he was not able to land a really hard and clean strike. But he never really did. The cardio unfortunately for him is still an issue.

I think a lot of people made the mistake of looking at the Barboza fight and thinking Khabib would try to do the same to Conor rushing forward.

The reality though is that was a carefully worked out gameplan for Barboza who has always looked weakest standing against opponents who can get in his face with boxing, he didn't do the same thing against Ali at all knowing he was looking for a counter punch and he didn't vs Conor either.

I wouldn't say Conor was never good...He had 1 fight in LW and it was a title fight...a title he never defended...He would've had a better chance vs. Lee or Ferguson...but stupid enough to leave the division...so guess what...Khabib reigned on his absence...he had no choice but to face the title holder...the worst match up for his style...had he stayed and fought Ferguson, I would think he beat Tony...all in all this was his own undoing....

If he did not fight smart, he would have gotten clipped coming in. He gave Conor no room to work, and even had better footwork than predicted. He is more physical, but just fought better.

khabib is just too fast coming in. So this is not really skills. The dude is simply too fast. That is why he gave Conor no room to work. I think people just don't understand how crazy khabib is. He wrestles with Luke Rockhold and DC. Top UFC fighters who are 2 to 3 weight classes above him. He has kicked DCs ass a few times in wrestling as well. This is insane considering their weight difference. Khabib is fast and waaayyyy too strong for LW. Khabib usually walks around at 190ish I heard. I have a lot respect for other fighters but compared to Khabib, they are just jokes. GSP and maybe Askren stands a chance.
