I hear sometimes that Manny lack fundamentals of boxing, as also from the guy who knocked out Alegiri just recently I believe, I'm not an experienced boxer, but when I see Manny, it looks like the guy moves well, super well, super fast hands, and etc, he does seem like at times reach too much and gets off balanced, but usually he's so quick and fast and hits so hard it seems it's hard to take advantage of that, I mean, Floyd did outbox Manny by hitting him more than he was hit, but Floyd landed fewest punches or had smallest percentage of punches landed or something on Manny Pacquiao when they fought.

Manny doesnt have a good fundamental base. Doesnt mean he isnt a legendary fighter but what it means is that his techinque is not rooted in fundamentals that work for everyone. his flaws are having his elbows too high up rto prot ect from body punches, his footwork is not economical and balanced and wastes much too much energy and his stance is generally is slightly too squared.

nothing wrong with stance that is more square though, I think I read in Joe Frazier book that he recommended more square stance, different from a more common popular staggered stance

The ability to defend against the air jab.

In all seriousness, I think the biggest issue for Manny was he was never the best at ring cutting.

Not a fundamental issue but he can't adjust during a fight. What you see in round one will be the same thing you see in round twelve.

In before a dumbfuck says one of the following:

1) Manny was all speed, nothing more

2) Manny only had one punch, the straight left. If he couldnt land that he would always lose.

3) Manny didn't know how to box

4) Manny didn't know how to counter

Can I say he was pillow fisted?

Manny is a very unique fighter

Cant think of any other fighter thats been very successful with an offensive blitz style like his

Roy Jones or James Toney maybe?

Toney? He's one of the best defensive fighters ever.

Lacks fundamentals? Who are these experts telling you this? Probably from the same ilk as those that say Mayweather has zero power.

True

But he also had slick offense where he would lean slightly back to avoid getting hit then unload a barrage of punches, so I guess you can classify that as counterpunching

he does lack fundamentals, his fans are too biased to see it as honest criticism. Ali lacked as much or more "fundamentals" and his fans don't go nuts when it's pointed out. I'd been saying it forever, pre-and post mayweather, manny has never shown ability to deal with a slick boxer, never, in fact, I was asking if anyone knew of one he'd faced before mayweather, knowing Mayweather would use a style which has bedevilled many a force of nature before against Manny. I blamed a lot of it on Roach, he had 15 years to work with the guy and he doesn't teach him anything more than how to improve his , left or right, hand (i forget which) and letting manny prime into a fighter who had amazing gifts, either through epo or hard work and genes, and letting him be a one dimensional, predictable fighter. What he could do was still more than enough for, arguably, anyone around at his peak but he could have added more tools to his repertoire. I don't know if he ever maximized his punching power either, his body mechanics were off and Roach never corrected, or changed it. The difference between a guy like him and ali is night and day because, one could adapt to any style, the other made a career of fighting, mostly, brawlers and guys who stand in front of you. It's the managers job, the trainers job, and as i've said before, we can't expect the philipinnes to necessarily have the best coaches for a poor kid coming in to learn. One other thing, many great fighters teach themselves, manny did not have the ability to reflect on himself and do that.
