What Fights Looked Good On Paper....but Left you Feeling Sorry.....

That fight is what I would imagine Mortal Kombat would be like, if you were playing with two broken controllers.

Awesome. Just awesome.

Diaz-Cerrone

Thought this would be the definition of even fight. Diaz put the WHOOP on Cowboy

Diaz-Henderson

I thought Nate would do way better. It was a complete blowout.

So the criteria changed from 'looked good on paper' to 'favorites took a beating'.

Ill go with the first, fights that looked good on paper but sucked.

Page v Shad.

Biggest disappointment!

First thing that came to mind is Neer Vs. Pelegrino. I was so excited for that fight and Pelegrino had plans other than fighting. Why did you have to remind me?

Cain vs JDS 1 and 2. Thought both would be close and competitive, neither were

Alistair Vs Brock

Lauzon vs Pulver

Tito vs Chuck. Wanted to Chuck win and glad he did, but I thought he was going to take more damage in a more even fight before catching Tito

Jones vs Rua. He wasn't as well known then and it seemed like it was going to be a great fight

Guida vs Pettis. Seen this one going like Guida/Griffin or Guida/Sherk. I knew that Guida would get him down, but I thought it was going to be a hell of a fight

Henderson vs Diaz

Fedor vs Nogueira 1 and 3

Fedor vs Arlovski

Condit vs Diaz

Not that these were all bad fights by any means, they just looked a lot closer and more competitive in paper

Kimbo v. Alexander. I was trying to get my friends into MMA around the time of that event and assured them they would see a KO in that fight.... yea

I've given up on trying to get my friends into watching it, they just sigh and say they're bored or they don't like gay porn :icon_sad:

I figured Rampage vs Rashad would have turned out much better than it did, I guess I was the UFC promotion machine's sucker that night.

Penn v Sherk - looked a very even match up with Sherk's powerful wrestling, excellent top control and incredible cardio versus Penn's sharp boxing, elite BJJ but questionable cardio.

Should in theory have been a pick 'em fight.

I was happy Penn won but Sherk's mindless boxing-match strategy was clueless and Penn never had to get into the higher gears.

Henderson vs Diaz

I definitely thought Bendo was an abysmal stylistic match for Nate from day one. Not sure where the camp arguing that Diaz was going to finish him was coming from.

Because Miller also had great wrestling and sun defense and knowledge, and Diaz was the first to finish him. He also has a Cesar Gracie black belt, which is on another level from almost all other black belts given out. He has great cardio, long limbs, and had a chance of hurting Henderson standing and finishing him with a submission

I thought he was going to lose too, on paper it just seemed like it would be more competitive

The entirety of UFC 149.

Wanderlei-Leben was pretty bad too. Wouldn't have minded if it was a great fight, but Wanderlei just immediately ran into some clinch uppercuts.
